Thinkers360: Financial Technology has grown into a trillion-dollar industry. What are the three most exciting and disruptive shifts in the pipeline?
DG: Number one is AR and VR. Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality will become primary channels and gradually replace smartphones.
Number two is Inflation. Inflation is up due to a “perfect storm” of fiscal, monetary and microeconomic triggers. FinTech was born in permanent zero rate environment post 2008. Significantly positive nominal interest rates will dramatically shift FinTech valuations and put startups under shorter term profit pressure. Some will strive, yet many will struggle in this new environment.
Number three is CBDC. We are heading towards cashless society around the globe, cash is outdated and will basically disappear. CBDCs, Central Bank Digital Currencies must take over therefore and the trillion-dollar question is: How?

DG: Being a Top 10 Global Thought Leader and Influencer in FinTech makes me very proud and happy. Being in the top 10 globally in financial technology motivates me to work even harder. I feel that I am responsible to grow up to my ranking and serve my clients even better, extend and expand my knowledge even further and publish even more relevant and exciting content.

Thinkers360: What’s your main advice for upcoming thought leaders?
DG: Please allow me to turn this question around: ‘What is the main advice of upcoming thought leaders for me?’ I want to turn your question around because Millennial and GenZ thought leaders are much more skillful handling social media and the nascent metaverse than Baby Boomers and Gen X. I am very interested in their advice to us: How can we best use TikTok and Instagram to produce meaningful content and get it right to our target-group of audience? How can mobile wallets best serve 140 million monthly active users of Twitch – a platform providing live streaming services focused on gaming and eSports – around the globe?
