Thinkers360: Tell us a bit about your background and areas of expertise
SG: I grew up in a very entrepreneurial family, managing books and operations. And ups and downs were part of our lives. While most of our family members chose to drop out of school to prioritize making money, I chose to go for higher education. With a very short tenure at a manufacturing facility as a control systems engineer, I started my career in the consulting world.
Solving challenging cross-functional issues and fixing broken digital transformation initiatives was my day job. Through this experience, I studied many different business models and industries. But then, the entrepreneurial itch was always part of me. So I started consulting independently after ten years of my career. While I had some ideas, I didn’t fully understand how to start a business that is not just mom-and-pop. So I went on to get an executive business degree in entrepreneurship to start a technology-centric business.
Then I tried many different businesses in several industries, but they ended up becoming just fancy ideas without a true execution behind them. The biggest problem with these businesses was that I was trying something I was not an expert on and running after shiny objects. So I had to come back to my roots, what I truly and deeply understood. And that’s when we started ElevatIQ, which is an independent ERP and digital transformation consulting firm. And we specialize in making digital transformation and ERP initiatives successful or bringing them back on track if they have been derailed.
Thinkers360: What are your current responsibilities and what’s a typical day look like?
SG: Being one of the fastest-growing businesses in the fastest-growing industry, my days are full of challenges. But the evenings and weekends are even more challenging with a 3-year-old in the house. My day is spent leading our team, taking calls with prospects and customers, recording podcasts, and doing live shows.
With so much happening during the day, it’s very hard to focus on the content strategy. So I end up spending evenings and weekends working on content strategy only if I have permission from my 3-year-old, who is bossier than any demanding boss I would ever work with. While it should be my responsibility, he likes to make sure I eat timely, do not work too hard, and find time to play with him.
Thinkers360: What’s the favorite part of your current role?
SG: With over 50% of the failure rate of digital transformation initiatives, it’s a very frustrating experience for companies not to have real answers on why these initiatives fail. Helping them coach the process to find their answers and grow confidently is the most fun part of my job.
Watching newer consultants grow is another fascinating part I enjoy most about my role. This helps me understand how much clients underestimate the amount of training and expertise required to master ERP and digital transformation initiatives.
Thinkers360: How do you like to work with brands who wish to engage you as a thought leader?
SG: I am always looking for opportunities to collaborate with industry media publications, fellow podcasters, and industry analysts. I am also always willing to collaborate with brands and private equity researchers in the enterprise software space, either for due diligence or developing go-to-market or product development strategies. Finally, brands can reach out to me for any speaking opportunities in the areas of ERP, eCommerce, Supply Chain, and digital transformation.

Thinkers360: What’s your main advice for upcoming thought leaders?
SG: Find your unique voice, and your tribe will find you. Thought leadership is about sharing something that’s not available on search engines. The format is not as important. What matters is if you truly have the mastery of the subject to be considered an authority in a given domain.
Also, don’t worry about what others think. Share your perspective and stick to it if you really believe in it. Be consistent and keep hitting. But don’t forget to network and engage. Thought leadership is as much about sharing your expertise as it’s about elevating and helping others. If you help your tribe enough times, they will feel compelled to help you as well.
