Why defining business architecture is important before investing in IT or technology?

They say garbage-in-garbage-out when it comes to implementing digital systems. While business architecture may come across as a technical term, the true essence of business architecture is to map the blueprint of your current processes and vision while decoupling the technical solutions. It is similar to drawing a blueprint of your house on a piece of paper before you start constructing it. This exercise helps in identifying the right digital solutions and prevents significant financial risks.

How to start on the e-commerce journey for the first time and grow?

Most manufacturers rely on traditional methods of selling and shy away from modern techniques such as e-commerce. While traditional models existed for ages, they didn't require you to be razor-sharp with your focus, as word-of-mouth wasn't as expensive. And even if you didn't have your business model as refined, you probably survived, and you might argue that you grew to your desired rate. However, e-commerce requires you to refine your business model and understand your ideal customer profile deeper. Or you could be out of cash before you even realize it.

Industry 4.0 Requires a Connected Business System Architecture

Collecting data is easy, but gleaning insights from data have always been challenging. And actionable instructions or the orchestration layer built based on the gleaned insights is even more difficult. But this is where the real value of industry 4.0 initiatives is when machines and software can learn the context in real-time and take actionable steps that will positively impact the bottom line.

The Brainstorm: Pricing Strategies That Increase E-Commerce Revenue

In fact, doing this once may not be enough as your customer behavior is likely to change over time. There are several KPIs that play a role. Mastering the sessions will help you better command your KPIs, which will result in higher sales from your digital channels.

So if you don't have a comprehensive plan for your channel conflict and if your distributors view your e-commerce efforts as a threat to their business, you may not only derail your e-commerce efforts. But you might also end up impacting your existing revenue.

The Brainstorm: Measuring & Increasing Average Order Value

Getting more revenue from existing customers who already know and trust you is much easier than acquiring new customers. Also, getting visitors who are already on your site to buy more would always be easier than attracting new visitors as you have complete control over their journey without any competitive forces. For this reason, the average order value is such an important metric. But before implementing any strategies for increasing the average order value, make sure that you have a deep understanding of their journeys and that complimentary offering will add real value to their buying experience.

The Brainstorm: Personalization Strategies Vital to E-commerce Success
Industrial Media, LLC
October 08, 2021
Most people think of personalization strategies as hand-written letters or their names printed on the product. Some e-commerce practitioners, on the other hand, might suggest gathering as much personalized information as possible such as their gender, age, etc., to tailor the experience. But personalization is much deeper than that. Personalization requires you to have a deep understanding of your customers and their journeys. The deeper the understanding, the more personalized the experience will be. And the more personalized the experience, the more sticky effect your customers will have with your brand.

The Brainstorm: Customer Journey Mapping Essential to E-commerce Success
Industrial Media, LLC
October 04, 2021
Unlike the traditional world, e-commerce requires you to forecast each step of your customer groups and predict their behavior. This study forms the foundation of customer journey mapping. It is similar to organizing your store based on the buying behavior of your customers. And just like your store experience, if your visitors don't find what they are looking for in a timely manner, it's very unlikely that you will ever win them as a customer. For this reason, customer journey mapping is essential for your e-commerce success.

The Brainstorm: Why Companies Struggle to Identify Their Ideal Customer Profile
Industrial Media, LLC
September 24, 2021
Most companies struggle to identify their ICP just because no two customers are the same regarding their needs and expectations. But its purpose is to identify the right customer groups who will benefit most from your offerings. Of course, depending upon your strategic drivers, whether your goal is to gain a larger market share or earn the most profits, the ICP could differ. But the success of e-commerce efforts depends upon how accurately you can identify your ICP.

The Brainstorm: Successful E-Commerce Discount Strategies
Industrial Media, LLC
September 20, 2021
Traditionally, e-commerce was a B2C-centric initiative with websites full of popups and promotions. These promotions were critical for e-commerce efforts as that's what incentivized customers to take the purchase action in the absence of that personal touch present in the traditional channels. But for promotions to work, you need a comprehensive discounting strategy to help you meet your sales objectives and turn the inventory at the right pace without obsolete or expired products.

The Brainstorm: How to Improve Conversion Rate
Industrial Media, LLC
September 17, 2021
While there is much talk about the importance of the conversion rate for e-commerce, it could mean different things to different industries. For example, some industries are more than happy to get their customers' email addresses, while others may not be as happy until they swiped their credit cards. But one thing is sure: without aligning on the definition of conversion rate and how that would translate into earning some revenue, you might not get very far with your e-commerce efforts.

Industrial Media, LLC
August 26, 2021
When it comes to budgeting for E-commerce initiatives, it is no different than planning for a new store or a business unit. 2024 Prediction for Digital Transformation

Most organizations are likely to be conservative with their digital transformation investments. 2024 is also going to be a year to learn how AI will impact the way we conduct business. Digital Transformation: Customization of ERPs vs Maintenance Nightmares

Location: https://www.linkedin.com/in/samguptausa/    Date : August 26, 2021 - August 26, 2021     Organizer: WBSRocks

The main challenge with ERP is that, no matter how good it is, it cannot address 100% of your organization's needs.

There will always be company-specific needs such as reporting or KPIs.

There are also likely to be several integrations that you might require, such as integrating your inventory forecasting or demand planning system or e-commerce.

These integrations and reporting requirements will drive changes to your core ERP functionality, such as exposing additional data fields through interfaces or on the screens.

While customizations provide great flexibility to tailor the experience to your needs, over-customizing could fire back due to increased technical debt and maintenance.

Also, the team that may have written the customization may move out, and the code may not be as documented as the OEM code.

If the customization is done by the vendor, they might not even share the source code with you, creating vendor lock, a much tighter lock than with the product or with the OEM.

In fact, a study by Panorama Consulting showed that 90% of ERP systems have at least minor customizations, while 36% have customizations that involve modifying over 50% of the code.

How to make a decision whether it is wise to customize an ERP or not?

Let's hear from experts Martin Davis (CIO/CDO), Ashish Parulekar, Aaron Spool, CPA, CFA, MBA, Michael Schlagenhaufer, Christiano Gherardini, and Sam Gupta as they share their expertise on customization of ERPs vs maintenance nightmares.

Location: https://www.linkedin.com/in/samguptausa/    Date : August 25, 2021 - August 25, 2021     Organizer: WBSRocks

In the sales world, especially with B2B and ABM, there has always been a heavy emphasis on increasing the deal size as getting more revenue from existing customers is always easier than the newer ones.

E-commerce isn't any different.

In the e-commerce world, this metric is called average order value (AOV).

Marketers use AOV to gauge if there might be more opportunities to increase the deal size with each transaction.

Measuring the average order value provides an opportunity to understand customer behaviors and how much they are spending on your products.

By studying how your clients are spending on every order, you can then organize marketing and pricing strategies to enhance it.

You need to check how much money your business is spending on advertising and how it is translating to the average order value.

Let's hear from experts Kristina Harrington, Steve Rice, Damon Pistulka √, Ben Searcy, and Sam Gupta as they share their expertise on increasing average order value.

Dx Industry: Sage Independent Vendor Review

Location: https://www.linkedin.com/in/samguptausa/    Date : August 24, 2021 - August 24, 2021     Organizer: WBSRocks

Most businesses outgrowing QuickBooks might end up defaulting to Sage.

Sage is also one of the most favored by accounting firms.

While there have been many debates about the 3rd spot among ERP vendors such as Microsoft, Sage, or Infor, Sage has the largest market share in the SMB space, even above SAP and Oracle.

Also, you might feel that Sage is perhaps not even an ERP, just because you may have tried some of their smaller products for accounting, such as Sage 100, 300, or 500, in conjunction with an MRP software.

But Sage's portfolio is one of the most comprehensive for the SMBs, with a variety of options available.

Sage also rules certain industry verticals such as construction and real estate.

Also, there aren't many good options in the mid-market process manufacturing space. That's where Sage X3 comes to the rescue with ruling markets such as agriculture, pharma, and food & beverage.

Similarly, Sage Intacct offers unique functionality for specific industry segments that may not be considered mainstream for the ERP market.

But how do you select the appropriate Sage product for your unique needs?

Let's hear from experts Andy Pratico, Phil Coerper, David Crysler, Sneha Kumari, and Sam Gupta as they provide an independent assessment of Sage.

Digital Transformation: Change Management

Location: https://www.linkedin.com/in/samguptausa/    Date : August 12, 2021 - August 12, 2021     Organizer: WBSRocks

Managing change is hard, but defining change management is even more challenging. Everyone defines change management differently.

Project managers view change management as the process used to obtain approval for a project's scope changes.

Infrastructure professionals consider change management to be the process for approving, testing and installing a new piece of equipment, a cloud instance, or a new release of an application.

ITIL, ISO20000, PMP, Prince2 methodologies prescribe the process to gain approval and make changes to a project or operating environment.

The Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP), PROSCI, the Innovation and Organizational Change Management Institute (IOCMI), and others view change management from an organizational perspective.

While each group has its perspectives, they all address the human side of change in organizational contexts.

Let's hear from experts Christiano Gherardini, Paul Serafino, Marcia Williams, MBA, Amanda Prochaska - Mrs. Fix-It, Melissa Drew, Laura Goodrich, and Sam Gupta everything about change management.

E-commerce: Customer Journey Mapping

Location: https://www.linkedin.com/in/samguptausa/    Date : August 11, 2021 - August 11, 2021     Organizer: WBSRocks

Maximizing satisfaction with customer journeys has the potential not only to increase customer satisfaction by 20%

But also lift revenue up by 15% while lowering the cost of serving customers by as much as 20%

But what exactly is a customer journey?

The customer journey is the process by which a customer interacts with a company to achieve a goal.

This isn't something you can assume or predict based on your internal perspective.

The more touchpoints you have, the more complicated — but necessary — such a map becomes.

Sometimes customer journey maps are "cradle to grave," looking at the entire arc of engagement.

Let's hear from experts Kristina Harrington, Steve Rice, Eric Landmann, Lucas Walker, and Sam Gupta everything about customer journey mapping.
