Thinkers360: Tell us a bit about your background and areas of expertise
SK: I went from a lone parent on social welfare to an award-winning Twitter Expert, Author, Speaker, and Women’s Inspire Network Program Director at Wedo. I’m also an expert in LinkedIn & online events. I teach my clients how to use Twitter & LinkedIn effectively, create an online strategy, and successful social media campaigns that are engaging and add value. My specialty is creating a buzz around events and campaigns, getting businesses noticed simply by creating connections, and building an online audience.
Thinkers360: What are your current responsibilities and what’s a typical day look like?
SK: As the Women’s Inspire Network Program Director, my main responsibility is to grow the Women’s Inspire Network – This is an international business community of like-minded hard working women who all want to collaborate, support each other, and celebrate each other’s wins.
Days can vary but typically: Get up, bring my daughter to school and get ready. Sit down and check my Twitter, Linkedin and social media. Look at my client’s accounts and make sure everything is alright there. Then I go into the Women’s Inspire Network FaceBook Group to see if anyone needs any help there.
Currently, I’m busy working on organizing and promoting the WIN conference which is coming up on April 12th, 2023 in Cork.
Overall, a typical day is working online until about 1 pm, having lunch, and then working in the afternoon. After this, I bring the dogs for a walk before picking up my daughter from school, and then it’s family time.
Thinkers360: What’s the favorite part of your current role?
SK: I’m so lucky to get to meet awesome people, especially amazing women in business. I get to help people that might be struggling online with some tips by sharing my knowledge. I’m embracing social audio more and more (Linkedin Audio, Clubhouse & Twitter spaces). It’s a great way to share your expertise but also give other people an opportunity to talk about what they do. I also love social audio as it’s great for my own learning, meeting new people and networking.
Thinkers360: How do you like to work with brands who wish to engage you as a thought leader?
SK: Many brands don’t talk to their customers. Business is all about people – people buy from people. So I work with brands to help them find out who their target audience is and help them reach their desired audience and other thought leaders in their space. I try to give them PR opportunities as I have a lot of connections that have podcasts, etc. I also like to give them more attention on social media, get them more engagement and raise their profile.
Thinkers360: What’s your main advice for upcoming thought leaders?
SK: My main advice is to share your knowledge, help others along the way, show that you’re the go-to expert in your niche, use social media, particularly Twitter & Linkedin to do that, and be kind and helpful.
