Thinkers360: Tell us a bit about your background and areas of expertise.
MV: First and foremost, I am a content creator. I got my first job in the food manufacturing sector in the mid 90’s and was doing all aspects of import/export, which included sourcing, procurement, logistics, as well as many other functions. Since then, I’ve carved out a career in the commercial side of Supply Chain for almost 30 years. In that time, I’ve been an entrepreneur and have had much success and many failures, which have helped shape my career. I co-founded and run The Future Insights Network, a network of over 130,000 senior supply chain professionals. I’m also the host of the Transform Talks podcast and the owner of Supply Chain TV. The aim is to help supply chain leaders navigate the complexities of transformation in the age of volatility.
Thinkers360: What are your current responsibilities and what is your typical day like?
MV: I currently have my fingers in a lot of pies, which means my day starts very early. As an advisor for many companies, a content creator, influencer and the CEO of a company, I spend my early morning doing admin and dealing with pressing emails. I then take meetings with clients and team members. As a rule, I stop everything at 1pm to have lunch with my elderly parents, who now live with me. I then get back to work and wrap up at around 6-7pm when I dedicate myself entirely to spending quality time with my 4 dogs. My main responsibilities include managing my business, revenue generation, innovation and content creation.
Thinkers360: What is the favorite part of your current role?
MV: Speaking with industry leaders. One of the things I love to do is to speak with supply chain executives to find out what issues they are facing. We build our content on the back of these conversations and it also keeps me up to date with the latest trends. I also enjoy going to events as a speaker, which allows me to meet people and expand my network.
Thinkers360: How do you like to work with brands who wish to engage you as a thought leader?
MV: There are a lot of brands who see the value in working with influencers and thought leaders to help spread their message or make big announcements. I do a lot of influencer work, as well as live vlogging and speaking at events. I find that brands align themselves with influencers on the platform based on mutual values and messaging.

MV: Branding oneself is a very important part of the executive toolbox in today’s environment. My advice is to be proactive in branding yourself. Be your own biggest cheerleader.
