Thinkers360: Tell us a bit about your background and areas of expertise
CP: I grew up in a small town, was raised by a single Mother, barely graduated high school, was not voted ‘likely to succeed’, didn’t know the difference between fiction and non-fiction on graduation and didn’t read my first book until age 27. I share this as I believe it doesn’t matter where we start, it’s what we do next that matters.
I read my first book, How To Win Friends and Influence People, at age 28 and everything changed.
Since then I ventured in the speaking world and became a professional paid speaker. Fast forward a number of years and I was getting asked all the time about how to land paid speaking engagements and so I launched a speaking program to help others launch their speaking business, then land branded talks, then launched bLU Talks to provide platforms for speakers, authors, and influencers, and most recently we launched a member website called The Influencer Vault.
I focus on helping people become Influencers sooner (today rather than tomorrow).
Thinkers360: What are your current responsibilities and what’s a typical day look like?
CP: I spend my time in discussions with experts, speakers, authors, podcasters and others. I spend my time helping them find new ways to share their message with the world, while also speaking to people who have those opportunities and platforms and are looking for people to feature. I also spend my time working on our bLU Talks brand (i.e. our weekly bLU Talk speech that we broadcast across various networks, getting the latest book ready for the market, etc.) and also doing interviews for our Influencer Vault and podcast.
Thinkers360: What’s the favorite part of your current role?
Having someone say we helped them reach a new audience, or reach a certain income level or change a life in some way.
Thinkers360: How do you utilize Thinkers360?
CP: I visit the website often, make connections with other thinkers and watch the Influencer lists.

Thinkers360: How do you like to work with brands who wish to engage you as a thought leader?
CP: Zoom, or Streamyard currently – I like to get on calls and determine how I can serve / support them further in getting their message out to more people and/or find people to feature.
Thinkers360: What’s your main advice for upcoming thought leaders?
CP: Learn to say no sooner. All influencers eventually have to determine what is a no and what is a yes BUT most beginning influencers / thought leaders say yes to too much because they feel bad saying no. Start building the muscle sooner. Listen to every person who is willing to give you advice. You can discard the advice that doesn’t serve you. Develop a personal mission statement to help you determine what is a yes and no and which advice to discard. Higher for your weaknesses. Ask yourself everyday how you can add value for others, and proceed accordingly.
