Thought Leadership for 2025
AI will continue to increase the breadth and depth of white space and competitive analysis, enabling thought leaders to focus efforts on less crowded topics. Additionally, AI is allowing more advanced metrics on content performance to track the scale and impact of thought leadership; who reads it, when and how. While thought leadership historically focused on the awareness part of the buyer journey, these insights mean that firms will tailor their content to impact every stage through consideration to purchase and advocacy.
However, counter to this, we are already seeing the impact Gen AI is having on content output. It will be increasingly easy, cheap and fast to produce an acceptable report. The challenge for those who invest heavily in proprietary research, data analysts, economists and sector specialists is to demonstrate the added value human expertise brings to the table. Multiple research methods, harnessing parallel data sets, and immersive content experience will be even more important in the era of GenAI.
In 2025 it will be more challenging to be heard above the noise. Better differentiation, more personalization, more interactivity and multiple content types beyond the long-form PDF report will all be necessary.
