ADAPT: How Adaptability Has Become the New Operating System for Modern Business in an Age of Relentless Change
Adaptability has never been more important than it is today. The ability of people, teams and entire organizations to reliably, repeatedly and successfully adapt to today’s business environment — an environment defined by unrelenting, accelerating change; one in which new conditions, challenges and opportunities emerge every day — makes the difference between success and failure, growth and stagnation, relevance and obsolescence.
And where adaptation in the natural world is often outside an organism’s control, the readiness, willingness and ability to adapt in the professional world is well within an organization’s control — provided, of course, that the right culture, mindsets and skill sets are in place to foster adaptability.
Based on the Adapt Manifesto, which Greg co-created as a way to align leaders around a set of core principles for infusing adaptability into every area of their organization, this keynote highlights the seven values and 10 key practices any business person must embrace to thrive in the face of volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA).
Digital Revolutionaries: How the World’s Boldest Businesses Tap Into Exponential Change to Transform Themselves, Their Industries and the World
From the Internet of Things to the automation of everything. From artificial intelligence to augmented reality. From virtual experiences to 3D printed products. From big data in the cloud to the collaborative power of people in the crowd. Driven by wave after wave of exponential advances in technology, humans are racing toward a “hypernetworked now” that reimagines every aspect of how we live and work. Businesses that can’t transform at the same speed of change will face an uncertain future at best and certain failure at worst. Those that can will see exciting opportunities for exponential growth.
Welcome to the world of digital revolutionaries – the companies (and the leaders inside those companies) that are transforming themselves and entire industries. Over the course of more than two decades, digital futurist and business strategist Greg Verdino has not only studied change; he has helped some of the world’s most highly regarded organizations navigate it successfully. In this thought-provoking exploration of the technologies and trends that are rebooting business right now, you will see how the world’s boldest businesses – both digital disruptors and innovative incumbents – are already putting tomorrow’s biggest business ideas to work today. Plus attendees will learn how you can do the same in order to beat your competition to the future and meet the customer of the future.
Marketing 2025: How the Next Wave of Technology Change Will Redefine What it Means to Build a Brand, Be a Marketer & Win Through Marketing Transformation
Ten years ago, Greg’s groundbreaking book microMARKETING introduced the world to what would go on to be one of 2019’s hottest marketing trends: micro-influencers. And that was just one of his prescient predictions for the future of marketing.
In his latest ‘future of marketing’ keynote, Greg turns his eye to the coming five years and explores the ways in which exponential advances in technology will combine with sweeping changes in consumer beliefs and behaviors to challenge even the most innovative marketers to reinvent the ways in which they build their brand — and their entire business.
What will your business and your brand look like just five years into the future?
In this provocative yet practical talk, Greg helps marketers, sales and customer service leaders understand how they can respond to — or better yet anticipate — the emerging challenges and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence, the ‘blurry’ world of augmented reality, a revolution in human-machine interfaces, practical applications for blockchain, a crisis of trust and the coming shift in control over who owns their customers’ data.

Now, NEVER NORMAL distills eight years of Greg's most provocative ideas about technology, transformation, strategy and innovation into one slim volume you can skim while you're waiting for your next Zoom call to begin.

THREE TIPS FOR ACCELERATING DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
Greg Vedino

Just months into 2020, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella noted, “We’ve seen two years’ worth of digital transformation in two months.” Of course, the vast majority of that was mere digitization. Nonetheless, to the extent that the pandemic forced most organizations to accelerate their digital roadmaps, it’s fair to consider how leaders can keep their foot on the gas in 2021.

Metaverse
Date : December 16, 2021
As we enter 2022, all eyes are on the metaverse -- a next generation internet (Web 3.0) that is immersive, interoperable, distributed, and open. Or as metaverse expert Matthew Ball puts it, "An expansive network of persistent, real-time rendered 3D worlds and simulations that support continuity of identity, objects, history, payments, and entitlements, and can be experienced synchronously by an effectively unlimited number of users, each with an individual sense of presence.”
Accessed via browsers and smartphones, increasingly via augmented or virtual reality wearables, and even potentially through 'spatial' audio, the metaverse will open the possibility for a wide range of new experiences, identities, communities, and economies (given that it will incorporate blockchains, cryptocurrencies, and so on).
While versions of the metaverse have existed to some extent and for some time -- Second Life in the early to mid-2000s was arguably a metaverse, as are current platforms like Roblox, Minecraft and Animal Crossing -- late 2021 saw a substantial uptick in interest for the metaverse following Facebook's rebrand as Meta and its stated intention of becoming a leading creator of the future metaverse-at-scale. Putting aside the probability that Facebook's vision is actually at odds with the prevailing view of the metaverse as open, owned by the community (not big tech companies) and distributed, Facebook's announcement joins a series of other developments that point toward a rising interest in blurring the physical and the digital: the white-hot NFT collectibles market, the virtual real estate landgrab (Decentraland, The Sandbox, etc) and the growing prevalence of a market for other virtual goods (inside virtual worlds, for example).
We are now seeing brands get serious about experimenting with metaverse-related technologies as they seek to understand the new dynamics that are emerging between companies and consumers. Heading into 2022, we will see more and more companies launch and expand their presences and programs in virtual worlds, with virtual goods, and so on. These initiatives may ultimately be recognized as early forays into what some estimate could be a $1T+ economy.
2023: The Year the Future of Work Stands Still (For Most...)
Date : November 07, 2022
The likely deep recession along with the economic uncertainty leading up to it will drive many companies to retrench: Literally, in terms of spending, hiring and (as we're already seeing) reductions in force. And figuratively, in terms of the "future of work."
Many organizations, feeling they've regained the upper hand will cut back on investments in employee experience, scale back remote and hybrid work policies, and de-emphasize programs that prioritize culture and employee wellness.
But from the standpoint (and viewpoint) of the workforce, there's no putting the post-pandemic genie back in the bottle. Even though faced with economic uncertainty, employees will continue to demand more from employers, adhere to new workstyle and workplace expectations, expect human-centered employee experiences, and steer clear of companies that prioritize the 'past of work' over its future. Ironically -- and as a result -- even after layoffs, many companies will continue to struggle to attract and retain top quality talent.
Digital is the least of all disruptions. Look around and you'll see what I mean. Workers, leaders, organizations, and the world are reeling from now-term and looming disruptions in virtually every area. And it has become obvious that addressing sustainability, the new dynamics of the post-COVID workplace, geo-political tensions, uncomfortable social and cultural reckonings, and a likely deep recession will present our organizations with greater, more urgent challenges than the "mere" challenge to be "more digital."
BUT even if digital is the least of all disruptions, it remains one of our most powerful toolsets for addressing any and all of these more substantial issues. For this reason, in 2023 and beyond we will see an organization's digital transformation agenda become inextricably linked with its sustainability agenda, human rights and equity agenda, workforce and workplace transformation agenda, and its agenda for surviving an economic downturn. In many instances this will be positive -- the application of exponential technologies like AI, blockchain, and others to understand and address existential challenges. But we need to be aware that there may be downsides too -- continued, accelerated automation of human tasks as organizations scale down their workforce to cut costs as we enter the recession.
In 2020, the digital transformation bubble will burst.
While most leaders recognize that their organization must digitize in the coming years, most are already failing. According to recent research by McKinsey & Co, 70% of transformation initiatives fail and only 16% of those that don’t actually deliver improved performance. As reality sinks in, more corporate leaders will pump the brakes on their ‘big bang’ transformation programs. This is actually good news.
The irrational exuberance over wholesale transformation will be replaced by a more measured approach to delivering a steady stream of smaller, successful improvements that – over time – add up to massive change. We will see the emergence of the truly adaptable organization – one that reliably and repeatedly adjusts to ongoing changes in the business environment in order to achieve revolution through evolution.
