Friday’s Change Reflection - Quote Leadership of Change - If Health Is Not a Priority, Change Today

Apr

Happy Friday!

On this day April 7, 1948, the World Health Organisation (WHO) was founded following the signing of its constitution by 61 member states. The establishment of the WHO was a significant milestone in the field of global health, as it created a platform for international cooperation and collaboration to address health issues affecting people around the world. The primary objective of the WHO was, and still is, to promote the attainment of the highest possible level of health by all people, regardless of their socio-economic status or geographic location.

The WHO constitution states: “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” This definition carries a significant implication: mental health is more than just the absence of mental disorders or disabilities. The WHO constitution also states that, “The enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being without distinction of race, religion, political belief, economic or social condition.” Organisations and their leaders play a critical role in promoting employee well-being through their approach to workplace culture and policies. It is widely recognised that a positive workplace culture that prioritises employee well-being can lead to increased productivity, employee satisfaction, and reduced absenteeism. If Your Health Is Not a Priority, Change Now.

If your health in terms of physical, mental, and social well-being is not a priority, change now. Time is depleting”

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about a significant shift in people’s attitudes towards health and wellness. As we emerge from the pandemic, there is a growing recognition that people’s health and state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being has never been so important. This means organisations and their leaders will have to have a strategy and service offerings that ensure the wellbeing of their employees. This becomes more important during organisational change and transformation, especially mindfulness, managing burnout and stress, inclusion, etc. The importance of organisations and leaders prioritising employee health is not an option.

Have a fantastic Easter break with the ones you love and care for, enjoy some fresh air, exercise, eat, drink and be happy.
