11 HR Trends for 2016
linkedin
November 30, 2015
One year ago, on 29 November 2014, I published “9 emerging HR Trends for 2015”. Many of the trends I mentioned end 2014 were very visible in 2015. The changes in performance management, the transfer to mobile, the use of communities for recruitment and people analytics were on the agenda in many organisations. Some trends moved very slow. The end of PowerPoint seems to be wishful thinking. I have been in many meetings, conferences, round tables and symposia this year, and I must have seen more than 5,000 PowerPoint slides. Most of them of very poor quality.

Tom Haak: By becoming more digital, HR can become more human
HR Innovation Summit
March 21, 2019
As the HR Innovation SUMMIT 2019 is approaching, it is time to start with the first interviews in our blog. This year, the focus is on employee experience, talent empowerment and people analytics. A variety of experts from all fields will talk about their own experiences and the latest trends in HR. We always interview some of these speakers in advance to prepare you for the event and give you some food for thought.

Like usual, we have already published some articles and also the articles written for the last HR Innovation SUMMIT are not outdated yet. Therefore, it is always a good idea to look through the already existing content in our Blog.

Tom Haak is the director of the HR Trend Institute. The HR (Human Resources) Trend Institute follows, detects and encourages trends in the people and organization domain and in related areas. Where possible, the institute is also a trend setter. Tom is considered to be one of the leading global HR thought leaders. Tom has an extensive experience in HR Management in multinational companies. He worked in senior HR positions at Fugro, Arcadis, Aon, KPMG and Philips Electronics. Tom has a keen interest in innovative HR, HR tech and how organizations can benefit from trend shifts.

HR Trends Today
Hi5 Technologies
March 21, 2019
Tom Haak has always worked in HR. Based in the Netherlands, he worked his way up from a trainee to a senior position at Phillips Electronics, went on to other multinational companies like Aon and KPMG and later took the position of global HR Director for Arcadis, a leading global natural and built asset design & consultancy firm. He founded the HR Trend Institute in 2014.

Tom transformed himself into a trend-watcher and reads, speaks & breathes HR trends. He argues that a lot of the skills/principles necessary for HR can be learnt in tertiary institutions (like how to read statistics, how to use algorithms, etc.), but the HR industry is always in flux. Keeping up with the changing trends in HR is a continued education, beyond your degree or diploma.

Tom Haak: "Talent Management is often more window dressing than a real priority"
Remote How
February 27, 2019
Tom Haak was interviewed by Remote How. "In the video, Tom gave us his insight on various matters around the HR industry. We talked about his HR Trend Institute initiative and how he came up with the idea, the role of technology in the HR industry and the need for Talent Management to focus, mostly, on present issues and challenges and avoid being “sent away in the bush” by corporate as an effort to leverage time.
Furthermore, we discussed the employee’s journey and dived deep in how can Talent Management adjust and be effective in a distributed work environment.
Lastly, Tom gave us some valuable insight into what challenges companies need to prepare for before tinkering with a flexible work arrangement program".

Jobiak
January 15, 2019
How we do business today is rapidly evolving thanks to the advent of tools like AI and other technologies that allow us to deepen relationships with our audiences and do our jobs better and talent acquisition is no exception.

But all of this advancement comes at a time when recruiting and talent acquisition professionals are facing a nearly unprecedented uphill climb in getting and keeping the right candidate in the right position. Historic lows in unemployment rates, talent shortages in our increasingly data-driven world, and rising employee turnover mean that talent acquisition professionals will need to up their game to win in 2019.

Thats why we asked the experts how they see talent acquisition changing this year, and how we will need to adapt to keep up.
