Purpose Driven People - Creating business agility & sustainable growth
Twinxter Media
January 07, 2021
Most agile transformations fail. Not because of the method, but because people are treated as a side note.
Purpose Driven People flips the script. It shows what happens when you place people, and not processes, at the centre of your change.
Through a compelling blend of story and strategy, Alize Hofmeester introduces the 7 Change Principles behind truly adaptive organisations. Drawn from years of hands-on experience with large-scale transformations, this book is not a roadmap. It is a human journey.
Whether you lead a team or a transformation, this book invites you to pause, reflect, and reconnect. It offers a refreshing take on what it really means to build a future-fit, people-centred organisation. One where purpose leads, trust grows, and a high-performing culture can thrive.
Change does not start with systems. It starts with people. And that means it starts with you.

5.0 out of 5 stars
My new 'go-to' guide to enabling the people side of change in organisational transititions.
The People Journey Circle that Alize outlines in this book really resonated with me, it is an approach that revolves around people and purpose to enable all of the people in an organisation to work together on the journey towards a shared purpose to support a future of sustainable business growth.
I found it a thought-provoking and idea-generating read, packed full of practical tools and real-life examples that turns what could be abstract theory into a tangible approach to supporting organisations and their people in agile transitions - I especially liked the fictional story of Tess and her team, which guided me through each of the elements of the People Journey Circle - lots of learns for me there!
I can't recommend this book highly enough for Business Leaders, HR folk and Agile coaches who are currently leading their people towards business success.
5.0 out of 5 stars
The journey to agility is all about people and purpose!
The book is a good piece of non-fiction business literature that focuses on organizational transformations and the challenges (and opportunities) faced by both employers and employees during this journey.
It focuses on agile principles and practices that can influence the transition to agility, without imposing any specific model. It provides a wide ranges of tools, business cases and real examples that will help you to experience and understand whether or not agility may work for your organization.
Purpose Driven People consists of 3 major parts:
-The first part is all about the journey to agility connected to people and purpose. I love the tools provided to help people identifying their own personal purpose before connecting it to the professional/ organizational one.
-The second being about the People Journey Circle, a unique, human approach again around people and purpose that aims to help companies to create an inclusive journey towards the future of work. What I enjoyed about it was definitely the flexibility of this approach in closing the gap between thinking and doing.
-The third part is the very enjoyable story telling from the perspective of a virtual team going into this journey, whose characters are so familiar that you can easily recognize them in yourself and/or in other colleagues!
I would certainly recommend to read this book if you want to learn more about how to thrive, support and lead company transformations during unpredictable time, through people and communities.
5.0 out of 5 stars
A must read if you are looking to achieve business success through people success.
Purpose Driven People was a really inspiring read. Alize manages to beautifully guide you through a transformation process step by step but also capture the thinking and feeling process most people are likely to experience leading a transformation.
It’s written in a really personable way and the use of the avatars for the transformation team really make this book special and unique. There are times I feel like I’m part of that team.
Cleverly put together, this book is easy to read, full of practical ideas and insights from others who have gone through this transition. Insights you are not likely to find elsewhere.
A must read if you are looking to achieve business success through people success.
5.0 out of 5 stars
A must have book for any modern leader today! Highly recommended.
Before the book was published I was already very impressed with the author’s knowledge and experiences on this topic, having had the pleasure to see her live on stage several times both in London and New York. This book is essential for any modern leader or manager today and a brilliant hand book for anyone curious about how powerful a purpose can be. Brilliant read and valuable information and insight.

The Twinxter Change Journey is a proven change methodology that helps organisations move from purpose to high-performance through four interconnected phases: Explore, Design, Empower, and Grow. It integrates strategic alignment, leadership development, and people-centric change practices to create adaptive, high-performing organisations. The 7 Change Principles
Alize Hofmeester
January 01, 2019
The 7 Change Principles form the foundation of Twinxter’s people-centric change approach. These principles help organisations connect purpose, culture, and execution by focusing on mindset, behaviour, and collective intelligence. Each principle strengthens the conditions for a high-performing culture that is future-fit and built on trust, experimentation, and shared accountability. Together, they transform change from a top-down initiative into a collective journey where people drive growth, alignment, and adaptability. The model has been successfully applied across industries including finance, pharma, legal services, construction, energy, and the public sector.

The Missing Link in Business Agility
Alize Hofmeester
September 04, 2024
In this keynote, Alize Hofmeester unpacks the hidden gap between structures that promise agility and the real behaviours that enable it. Drawing from candid, behind-the-scenes stories of large-scale transformations, she reveals why many organisations “do” Agile but never truly become adaptive.
Through the powerful metaphor of the Dutch Masters — who built their masterpieces layer by layer — Alize shows that organisational movement requires the same depth, patience and intentionality. She uses her three core truths to illustrate where leadership often derails: misalignment between purpose and practice, the untapped power of collective intelligence, and the false myth of the perfect leader.
With stories ranging from executive teams confronting the “elephant in the room” to leaders who step out of the hamster wheel and into vulnerability, she demonstrates how transparency, shared ownership and mindset shifts double transformation success.
Participants leave with a sharper understanding of the missing link: change does not accelerate through frameworks alone, but through people who dare to learn, align and lead with purpose.

The Agile Mastery Show
Steve Martin
November 14, 2025
Each month on The Agile Mastery Show, I sit down with experienced change leaders who have shaped their craft the hard way — through people, pressure, and real organisational complexity.
In this episode, I’m joined by Alize Hofmeester — an executive change leader, Obeya expert, keynote speaker, and author of Purpose Driven People. Alize has worked over 20 years in the field of change management at ING where she lead major transformation efforts before founding Twinxter where she has supported many large enterprises and SMEs with their change and transformation challenges.
Her background gives her a rare lens: she understands transformation from the people side as well as the organisational side, and she brings a depth of experience that cuts through theory.
We explore what it really looks like when HR steps into a meaningful role in transformation, why it so often doesn’t, and how leaders can change that. Alize also shares the story behind Purpose Driven People — why she wrote it, what she’s seeing in organisations today, and why purpose, behaviour, and capability are becoming non-negotiable.
We then dig into Obeya: what it actually is, why it matters, and the practical challenges organisations face when trying to introduce more strategic visibility and alignment. Alize also talks openly about her move into executive coaching and the difference between coaching at the “team level” versus sitting across from senior leaders.
Finally, we look ahead to the next 3–5 years — the shifts in HR, people, Agile ways of working, and Obeya that organisations should be preparing for now.
A relaxed and insightful conversation with someone who genuinely understands the reality of change and the people at the centre of it.
Human Experience Management - A Blueprint for the Future

What if HR stopped managing resources…
What if we focus on designing human experiences?
On 18 April at 12:30 CET, I’ll be live on LinkedIn with the inspiring Peter van Hoof, author of the Human Experience Management Manifesto.
Together, we’ll dive into what might just be the boldest reimagination of HR we've seen.
Human Experience Management (HXM) is not a buzzword.
↳ It's a necessary evolution. A move away from rigid roles, outdated metrics, and treating people like parts of a machine.
Instead, it asks:
What if work started with self-reflection?
What if purpose, inclusion, and belonging weren’t just add-ons, but the design brief?
What if AI helped us become more human, not less?
This LIVE conversation is part of our Twinxter community focused on purpose - and I believe this topic couldn’t come at a better time.

Let's talk transformation
April 19, 2021
“To really solve problems ask for input from all those involved and design the model together. Don’t design behind close doors..”
In this week’s episode Alize and I discuss ‘being’ Agile and what it takes to build trust into organisations. All organisations are different and unique yet the same questions recur all the time; new practices and examples to experiment with are extremely valuable to learn from, and we should build deliberately inclusive organisations by determining the reason for change and ensuring all perspectives are covered. We dive into the different concepts and experiences around creating a learning organisation via community building, ecosystems and transformational leadership. A rich, fun and inspiring discussion with the common thread or deliberately developing inclusive practices and collective intelligence to co-create, experiment and iterate on building collective purpose.
Alize shares her wealth of experience and insight from working with organisations across the globe to create sustainable business agility, as well as the experience and insights of other experts in her book Purpose Driven People.
The main insights you'll get from this episode are :
- purpose-driven people go hand in hand with sustainable business transformation; the human dimension aligns with purposeful business agility to bring about meaningful change
- agility means a different way of thinking and doing, working towards a shared goal, coming up with possibilities and alternative strategies, taking personal responsibility and having the courage to make different choices
- Agile is iterative: experiment, learn and continuously improve - old models are giving way to communities and collective intelligence as platforms for tapping in to others’ brains (thereby bridging human and digital)
- we should build deliberately inclusive organisations by determining the reason for change and ensuring all perspectives are covered, i.e. from an organisational, employee and leadership standpoint
- ask for input from all those involved and design the model together; this idea has taken root but is yet to come to full fruition as it often falls foul of cost-cutting, and transformation should not be aligned with costs
- when writing a book, never assume that what you write is common knowledge and concentrate on what is of value to and enriching for readers; combining fact and fiction / theory and practice offers scope for creative storytelling
- People Journey Circle is a methodology for a unique human-centred approach to transformation to close the gap between thinking and doing; the echo chamber notion applies when working long-term with the same people, creating blind spots and no new ideas
- leaders think they act but employees do not experience the action; collective intelligence closes the loop with real-time involvement to simultaneously close the mindset and perception gap through diversity and exploration
- transactional leadership is more of an old-fashioned managerial style whereas transformational leadership is actively geared towards changing the future and generating new ideas, and building relationships with employees to allow self-organising teams to lead themselves
- collective purpose is essential to connect people, imbue their work with meaning and moreover highlight its value – this in turn helps to create a wider focus on an ambitious purpose
- people are the beating heart of an organisation and this must be understood for successful...

What about human intelligence in times of AI, virtual working and agile transformations?
Business Agility Institute
March 30, 2021
In the era of virtual working and agile transformations, what about the human intelligence?
Evelyn, CEO of a big company, sits at her desk staring out of the window. At the beginning of 2020 she kicked-off a digital transformation in her organization. After some very successful pilots, a substantial part of the organization has been transformed into new self-organizing structures and models. Even the office has been totally refurbished to facilitate the new methodologies, rituals and meetings. Then COVID-19 transformed the World. Looking at the empty offices she wonders what happened. “We were well on our way”, she thought. “Yes, we moved into agile structures and digitalized everything we could. We changed our way of working but we are still traditional thinkers. We followed the assumption that our people would change seamlessly. Nothing less is true.” She wonders: “How to move forward?”
Imagine you are Evelyn. What would you do? When you reflect on your own situation or the situation your company is in now, you maybe recognize a bit of what Evelyn is thinking?
Most of the organizations who start a transformation to become more business agile focus on infrastructure. Talking with companies we hear that tribes or self-organizing teams are introduced and Agile methods and rituals are implemented in parts of the organizations.
We often hear that organizations struggle with the way of leading this new way of working, that it is difficult to move from control to trust. We have identified a new purpose and new behaviours but who knows and cares about role modeling them? How are people able to change and learn new behaviours if they are treated and rewarded the old way? A department may be virtual and self-organized, it is still a department.
Going forward we cannot go back the old way. Going forward there is no new normal. There will be always something coming out of the eco-system impacting our business and personal lives. Going forward we need to think beyond the structures and our own organization, department or team. We need to look at the whole system. We are part of it and we have an impact on it.
During our session we take you on our journey. A journey that is not only about digitalization, structures and frameworks. It is about people. Get practical examples to experiment with on your journey to the future of work in which we all have an important role to play and to act upon.
