Rich Hollander

Managing Partner at Axcelora

Fort Worth, United States

I have been involved in the retail industry for more than 40 years. During this time I have garnered two things - an incredible Rolodex of business friends and mentors as well as a unique understanding of what makes retail stores and restaurants work.

During my time with both Buxton and MasterCard, I got the real world lesson of what the most difficult aspect of selling into the retail and restaurant world is..making the initial appointment. I garnered this experience by making more than 100 appointments a year for 15 years.

I hope to develop Axcelora, with our numerous Partners, into a tool that will bring the right group of service and product providers to retailers and restaurants. It is our goal to make introductions into our retail and restaurant friends easier and more efficient for these service providers.

Why are companies being Disrupted
linkedin
June 24, 2019
Nothing like a little riff of Shakespeare to start off an article. The topic we are discussing today is one swirling around retail for the past 25 years. But honestly, it has been around business forever. When the horseless carriage came on the scene, buggy whip manufacturers were worried about being put out of business. When electric streetlights came into the marketplace Lamplighters were certain they would be made obsolete. And when air travel started the railroads knew they would soon be out of business.

Innovation - The Cure to Retail Malaise

Innovation is all around us. Look how Amazon continues to poke and prod to see where opportunities might be. Look how Five Below has created a category that did not exist 5 years ago and how it is successfully growing in a world where many people are wondering what happened. And this list is long and diversified with companies that are embracing innovation.

6 Steps to a Successful Sales Call
linkedin
April 23, 2019
In the past I have spoken about selling, after all, it is my passion. I was at a conference last week and a member of the group got up and said he was not a natural born sales person. I would like to debunk that myth right now. There are no natural born sales people. There might be some people more social, or outgoing than others, but they are not natural born sales people. There are some people that have better listening skills, but these people are also not natural born sales people. Because, sales is a profession, just like being an attorney, a doctor, and accounting, a hair dresser, an actor, or a baker.
