Why Early Team Recognition is Key to Boosting Morale and Productivity?
Medium
April 12, 2023
I still remember, in the early years of agile, recognition for both team members and managers often took the form of informal, verbal praise and feedback, because Agile deliverables are quick and two weeks, most of the times we can deliver the solution for some requirements with pool proof solution by the team hard work. Agile methodologies were still being developed and implemented, and there was less emphasis on formal recognition programs or rewards. Instead, recognition was often provided in the moment, during daily stand-up meetings or other team interactions, with team members acknowledging each other’s contributions and successes.
we are glad as agile became more widely adopted by 2010 in the Organization across Projects, we began to develop more formal recognition programs and structures, such as peer-to-peer recognition, public acknowledgement of achievements, and performance-based incentives. Quarterly award nomination by the managers. However, even with this initiative in place, the emphasis remained on providing timely, specific, and meaningful nominations of team members and managers, rather than just offering generic praise or rewards.
Overall, recognition in the early years of agility was focused on building a strong culture of collaboration, trust, and continuous improvement, where team members felt valued and supported in their work, and were empowered to take ownership of their contributions to the team’s success.
