Competitive Advantages with New Management approaches- Takeaways from a Roundtable
RSS feeds WordPress
February 17, 2023
The first edition has centred the original goal on letting guests sharing ideas, opinions doubts and proposals about how to enhance classic Competitive Advantages (CAs) regrouped in high-level groups and how to achieve the new ones.

In addition, keeping away Jargon and buzzwords (to the best of my capabilities) was successful.

Lesson learned: less is better
I have reconsidered the optimal number of attendees: 6 + me (instead of 8-10.) because:
1. It is more intimate.
2. As when starting from a question, thoughts unfold progressively (critical reflection)
3. Thus, there is more time to discuss and express new concerns, doubts, experiences, and ideas.

Question raised were:
*How do we achieve the new CAs?
:* where do you start to prepare the ground and act?

Meaningful views, comments and further questions were raised by the Guests mainly about this topics & sub-topics:
Leadership
Delegation
Leadership-Culture
Knowing your company’s culture
Listening.
Personalities
The points above are referred to "How can we change something we are unaware of?"
3 minutes reading will give more content to reflect about.

RPA Business Case (1-part): Direct and indirect net-benefits -Considering transformations
RSS feeds WordPress
January 20, 2023
One of most relevant tool to enable decision-making about RPA, is the Business case.
Compared to the classic templates and adaptations, what often does not emerge is the holistic consideration of what we can call Indirect net benefits, the net benefits of People-centric approach, and the time when a firm can reap these indirect net benefits.

In a business case these factors have the role of mediators of the direct costs and benefits which as they are mentioned now, can reveal themselves misleading.
This is the first part of RPA business case .
Stay tuned!

In my previous article, “Is Digital Transformation (DX) an opportunity for Management Consultants with SMEs?” published in the January edition of this Newsletter, I provided some evidence that shows how the failure rates of digital transformation are linked to the concept of ‘technology fallacy’, defined as the assumption that the challenges created to business by technology can be only solved by technology itself. I also showed how DX is a viable service for management consultants.

I have reflected on how human connections are crucial in consultancy today more than ever.
When starting projects with new clients, focus first on making real human connections by actively listening, showing empathy, and understanding their unique culture. Rather than taking a one-approach-fits-all method, adapt to each client's specific priorities and expectations to build trust.
Show you care about them as people, not just your skills, to gain trust. Regularly check in to re-align goals as things change while balancing hard metrics with talks about human impact.
Consulting is ultimately about developing rapport and seeing clients as human beings, with technical skills being just the foundation.

Why are Use Cases essential for businesses to implement AI?
RSS feeds WordPress
November 05, 2023
Why are use cases crucial for AI implementation? Well-planned use cases are key to ensuring AI delivers real value. They map solutions to specific business goals, enhancing workflows and customer experiences. Iterating use cases also sparks innovation - solving nagging problems and revealing new opportunities. Most importantly, robust use cases build stakeholder trust that AI is applied ethically, driving adoption. Rather than chasing tech trends, AI success depends on targeted, accountable use case planning upfront. This disciplined approach makes AI’s benefits concrete, not speculative, setting up lasting wins. Pragmatic use cases transform AI from hype into sound strategy, yielding better human decisions. #genai #usecases #aistrategy #aiinnovation

The EU recently created the first laws to regulate artificial intelligence (AI). The rules establish human oversight and data quality standards for high-risk AI. The laws are a flexible framework countries can build on with industry-specific regulations. Some believe companies should self-regulate AI. However, self-regulation has flaws like conflicts of interest, no accountability, race to the bottom standards, public harm, and loopholes. Governments must create tailored AI laws across industries and coordinate globally. Thoughtful regulation allows safe AI innovation with humanity’s interests at the centre.

Trust in AI: what is expected from employees, managers, executives- monitoring Trends
RSS feeds WordPress
October 09, 2023
Trust in AI is very important but must be balanced. Too little trust can cause fear of AI and limit the use of it. However, too much trust can lead to just following AI without thinking critically. Companies should build responsible trust by testing AI to be sure it works and is transparent. Leaders should encourage questioning AI and overseeing it ethically. Making changes like reviews and risk monitoring can also increase trust. With the right amount of trust, employees, managers, and executives can feel confident to adopt AI and innovate while minimising risks. Trust is crucial for getting the benefits of AI while being responsible.

Building authentic relationships over simply displaying expertise is my goal as a consultant. By investing honest efforts to understand clients' perspectives through active listening and thoughtful questioning quickly builds strong bonds, as does adapting approaches to each organisation's culture for maximum trust building. Regular informal check-ins enable early identification and fixing of any potential issues early. Although quantitative metrics remain useful tools, qualitative narratives that resonate emotionally are more impactful in creating authentic, long-lasting value than temporary project wins. Ultimately, enriching human bonds over temporary project wins are more essential in creating authentic and lasting value! This is how I plan to deliver authentic, lasting value through providing authentic, long-lasting value through enrichment of human bonds than short-term project wins - this is how I want to deliver authentic and long-lasting value!

AI is here to Stay, but how? And what can it be done to get advantages from it?
RSS feeds WordPress
July 27, 2023
AI is becoming common in many fields. How will it evolve? Gartner's models help us understand this. Initially, a new technology excites people but eventually, the hype fades. AI is now in a mature phase.

The Technology S-Curve shows technology improves slowly, speeds up, and slows again. AI is in the speed-up stage now. However, challenges like ethics, technical issues, regulations, data quality, and skill gaps exist.

Business leaders can smooth the journey by having a clear AI vision, promoting data culture, being realistic about AI's capability, focusing on problem-solving, maintaining data quality, filling AI skills gap, and addressing bias and security concerns. Therefore, they need an AI implementation plan.

Organizations looking to implement artificial intelligence (AI) require a solid plan and a clear understanding of its capabilities.
With quality data, team skills that match, and reliable systems in place, this changeover should prove successful.
While there may be hurdles, they should all be handled accordingly and handled as part of an overall transition process.
IT leaders play a vital role here, but people from various departments should also work together to evaluate whether their organization is prepared for AI implementation - looking at their data, planning training or upskilling plans, and properly managing it to ensure a successful transition.

4 Technologies
Low and No code Digital applications

Date : September 14, 2022

Building applications with no-code platforms have become increasingly popular because they are fast, cheap, and virtually dependent on no-coding skills. Digitalisation's future is firmly anchored in no-code technology today.
It is becoming increasingly common for end-users to develop their applications without relying on coders; a lack of coders’ resources and skill sets are further contributing to this.

Currently, there is no standard for what qualifies as a no-code platform. No-code platforms still need some time to replace core systems, becoming the only way applications are developed. Coding will only be needed to create and enhance no-code platforms. Digitalisation is likely to be costly for businesses that ignore the no-code wave compared to their peers.

New approaches for strategy management with AI- the end or refreshing of classic tools?

Date : October 04, 2023

Most companies today still use traditional tools for making business strategies. But in the future, AI could start changing how strategy is done. AI may bring new capabilities that complement classic methods. For instance, AI can rapidly analyse customer data to detect shifts in demand. It can also quickly model different scenarios to foresee market changes. This could make planning faster and more data-driven. However, AI has limits, like lacking human judgment and creativity. So, pure AI-driven strategy may never fully replace human strategists. Rather, the optimal path forward could be combining AI strengths with human strengths. AI may become an enhancement for strategists, not a replacement. The future likely holds a hybrid model, with AI and classic tools working together in new approaches to strategy. However, widespread adoption is still gradual as companies test these uncharted waters. Strategy and Ai.

The end of AI and ML "back box" with XAI- Explainable Artificial Intelligence

Date : October 04, 2023

ML and AI have been developed to optimise models by increasing accuracy or decreasing prediction error. However, this approach often overlooks the importance of understanding why and how your ML model makes the predictions that it does. Explainable AI (XAI) seeks to increase transparency within artificial intelligence systems by offering explanations of their decisions, thus increasing trustworthiness for individuals using these technologies and increasing human-align decision-making by showing how AI systems make choices and operate. Overall, this XAI initiative hopes to illuminate its "black box", creating more fair, accountable, and human-aligned systems through understandable actions and decisions made by AI systems.

Trust in AI-individuals about trust in AI, and what is expected from employees, managers, executives

Date : October 04, 2023

Right now, most regular people don't trust AI fully. Employees, managers and executives know trusting AI has risks. But some AI can be trusted for certain tasks if built right. More transparency on how AI works is needed to increase trust. With the right trust, AI adoption and new processes can thrive. However too much trust in unreliable AI can hurt accountability and let biases go unseen. The goal is balanced trust - enough to gain AI benefits but still verify its decisions. Increased trust can enable innovation, but blind trust in AI can damage workplace culture.
