Synthetic Data report: Fueling AI Progress While Navigating Privacy and Regulatory Landscapes
RSS feeds WordPress
April 15, 2024
This analysis shows a rapid and steady market growth prediction for synthetic data.Synthetic data is made up information created by computers to look like real data. It's used when real data is hard to get or could invade people's privacy. This data helps train artificial intelligence safely without risking sensitive information. Studies predict more AI data will be synthetic in the future. Synthetic data is cheaper and faster to produce than collecting real data, and it avoids privacy risks. However, it might not always accurately reflect real-life situations. There's also a need to update laws and privacy rules to handle synthetic data properly

Competitive Advantages with New Management approaches- Takeaways from a Roundtable
RSS feeds WordPress
February 17, 2023
The first edition has centred the original goal on letting guests sharing ideas, opinions doubts and proposals about how to enhance classic Competitive Advantages (CAs) regrouped in high-level groups and how to achieve the new ones.

In addition, keeping away Jargon and buzzwords (to the best of my capabilities) was successful.

Lesson learned: less is better
I have reconsidered the optimal number of attendees: 6 + me (instead of 8-10.) because:
1. It is more intimate.
2. As when starting from a question, thoughts unfold progressively (critical reflection)
3. Thus, there is more time to discuss and express new concerns, doubts, experiences, and ideas.

Question raised were:
*How do we achieve the new CAs?
:* where do you start to prepare the ground and act?

Meaningful views, comments and further questions were raised by the Guests mainly about this topics & sub-topics:
Leadership
Delegation
Leadership-Culture
Knowing your company’s culture
Listening.
Personalities
The points above are referred to "How can we change something we are unaware of?"
3 minutes reading will give more content to reflect about.

RPA Business Case (1-part): Direct and indirect net-benefits -Considering transformations
RSS feeds WordPress

One of most relevant tool to enable decision-making about RPA, is the Business case.
Compared to the classic templates and adaptations, what often does not emerge is the holistic consideration of what we can call Indirect net benefits, the net benefits of People-centric approach, and the time when a firm can reap these indirect net benefits.

In a business case these factors have the role of mediators of the direct costs and benefits which as they are mentioned now, can reveal themselves misleading.
This is the first part of RPA business case .

Two key reasons the average driver did not rapidly switch to electric: prices were too high, and there were not enough plug-in charging stations to power them.
Now with AI, companies have tremendous hype. But business leaders need realistic plans. Achieving true AI benefits happens slowly after thorough, gradual integration.

The future is not humans versus machines in leadership, but rather synergizing the analytical skills of AI with the empathy, creativity, and inspiration uniquely human leaders bring.

Work Too Hard, Burn Too Fast: When Overwork Culture Meets New Workplace Tech
RSS feeds WordPress
February 07, 2024
Many workplaces now demand constant work with no rest. This “always on” culture is unhealthy and hurts performance. Researcher Malissa Clark closely studies work addiction harms in her book Never Not Working. She shows overwork ruins health while not even helping companies long-term.

At the same time, workplace AI promises big gains through automation. But toxic overwork culture clashes with adopting AI. Lacking balance and rest, staff burn out. They cannot gain new tech skills or lead AI humanely.

Companies that want AI success while allowing overwork, are going to cause their own failure. They drain worker health essential for AI guidance. With compassion and limits, people can thrive along with smart algorithms. Visionary bosses must rebuild culture for a bright future.

The Long Road from AI Hype to Reality

AI promises to keep outpacing reality. Leaders must balance hopes and hype with slow, careful progress. People need time to learn alongside technology. Sudden change risks failure.
Step-by-step training lets regular workers get comfortable with AI. Small successes build trust and skill.

Responsible leaders focus first on growing capability, not just rushing new tech. AI can positively transform business over time without the crash-and-burn hype cycles of the past.
But sustainable change comes through enabling people, not just systems. Progress matters more than predictions.

Stakeholder-Centric AI Strategies-Prioritising Needs and Concerns ( no one left behind)
RSS feeds WordPress
January 28, 2024
Companies today are rapidly developing artificial intelligence systems that impact people's lives in many ways. That's why it's crucial we put the needs of all stakeholders—like employees, customers and communities—at the centre when creating AI. By listening openly to diverse groups, companies can better understand how their AI tools might frustrate or confuse certain users. This allows them to customise the technology to align with human requirements. Continuous engagement enables catching issues early so AI can keep enhancing real experiences. When companies collaborate inclusively with stakeholders for input, they make more responsible innovations that aim to serve people rather than replace them. This co-creation helps ensure AI decisions are fair and benefit society broadly over time. The key is focusing first on those impacted by AI to drive better outcomes for all.

Learning from the Past (Digital Adoption) for the AI Future
RSS feeds WordPress
January 04, 2024
Over the last ten years, adding digital stuff to companies showed important lessons around technology, organisations, culture, and responsible innovation. Now, AI promises big advances, but turning ideas into real solutions faces familiar obstacles that have tripped up past efforts.

Looking at digital history gives an AI roadmap to adopt responsibly. There were overlooked real-world challenges to solve first. AI risks similar issues if focused too much on stats. The key is shifting ideas into solutions that solve actual business problems and help people. Things like training staff, checking data bias, and monitoring impacts matter. If people are informed and involved, AI can progress responsibly. But assuming systems will smoothly integrate risks repeating past mistakes that failed. Keeping humans central just makes common sense.

The business case for AI and Automation? Realising the Full Potential and Tangible Value of Staff Liberated by Automation
RSS feeds WordPress
January 02, 2024
Companies want to use automation to free up employee time for more important work.
But to really make this happen, leaders need a plan.
They should figure out how to use the new free time across departments - like sales learning about customers more or better finance saving costs.
Then, if possible, set goals to achieve hard money targets, like specific amounts of new revenue.

Tackle problems early that would slow success. Also, use AI's help while still counting on people to lead creatively. Getting real about the money automation frees up to earn elsewhere matters.
With a careful blueprint in place at every step, leaders can fully benefit as staff focus on the smartest responsibilities automation now allows.

Progress Over AI Pace: Agility’s Guiding Hand

December 31, 2023
New tech like AI brings tons of change quick. Companies need flexibility to keep up. Being agile means trying stuff out, working cross-functionally, and making constant small improvements. It keeps people front and centre as tech progresses. Some organisations handled COVID disruption well by being targetedly agile in key areas. For AI specifically, agility helps implement tools responsibly and adapt them to actual human needs. It guides swift AI progress through an ethical lens. Rather than let AI overwhelm us, agility makes it serve us. So, I'd say agility is critical for rolling out AI in a human-friendly way.

What do you think - is agility crucial for AI adoption?

February 29, 2024
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Effective business decisions are a goal that cannot be achieved lightly. Senior managers around the world achieve their effective business decisions, not as written words but by taking machine learning and
predictive analytics and making meaning of them by implementing AI as part of their strategy. To overcome data quality challenges, companies should establish robust data governance and management
policies defining rules and guidelines for handling data to ensure everything is accurate, complete, and well-organized. With these policies in place, organizations can maintain data integrity and improve

Cultivating Executive Trust in the Age of AI Governance ( In Press)
THE EUROPEAN BUSINESS REVIEW JOURNAL ( in Press)
January 15, 2024
The European Business Review has accepted our paper for publication in the Mar-Apr 2024 Edition.
The European Union, United States, and United Kingdom made rules about AI to make AI safer.
The rules aim to build trust but may also make companies less willing to use AI. More action is needed by companies beyond just following the rules. Companies need their own policies and training about AI. Leaders of companies should guide the culture and practices around using AI. AI systems should be developed and used in an ethical, transparent way that can be monitored. Employees should be allowed to oversee AI systems. Companies should work together with regulators on AI. While rules set the stage, what company leaders do and the company culture matter more. Progress requires a balanced approach to governing AI. Industry groups should cooperate to make AI guidelines. Rules don't mean companies should avoid AI - many rules actually help adopt AI, but rules alone don't ensure trust - company culture and policies also matter; company leaders promoting transparency, ethics and employee input build trust to adopt AI responsibly.

The New Leadership Model: The Rise Of New Roles For Leaders In The DEI World -California Management Review CMR ( in press)
RSS feeds WordPress
December 10, 2023
CRM has accepted our paper on new leadership roles to champion DEI. This paper argues that while diverse companies perform better, too many employees still feel excluded. It makes the case that leaders must step up and prioritise inclusion.
Promoting constant unlearning of biases and more inclusive mindsets is critical.
Rather than controlling power, leaders should create participatory roles where all voices shape decisions. Fun, story-based training can help value each person’s differences. Chatbots provide safe spaces to challenge outdated assumptions.

Executives should drive systemic change by modelling openness and realising biases affect behaviours Ultimately, leadership today means championing the message that every person’s talents enrich the whole.

The future lies with those leaders who build welcoming places where embracing diversity, fairness and inclusion makes people feel they belong.

Critical Issues AI Accountability Answered
California Management Review -CMR
November 06, 2023
AI is spreading rapidly, but who will pay the price when algorithms go rogue? With advanced systems operating independently, executives can't just pass the buck. Leaders must take responsibility through audits, oversight and explainability requirements. But opaque models and diffused accountability could erode public trust. Testing and strong governance can harness AI's potential while prioritizing transparency and accountability. Companies that fail to address emerging concerns around bias and discrimination risk a community backlash. It's time to implement policies that put people first.

"AI WAITS FOR NO HUMANS"
RSS feeds WordPress
April 07, 2024
AI is growing super fast—really, way faster than other tech ever did before. It keeps getting smarter at understanding data, working faster, and making complex decisions, all by itself. Unlike the old tech, AI doesn't wait for us to catch up, but keeps pushing forward.
AI is intelligent in itself. It learns, adapts, and decides things without our being the one to tell it what to do. That means it will not stop for us just because it might be bringing another big thing that we are not ready for.
In other words, we are going to have to do some serious soul searching in regard to our relationship with AI. In fact, this area needs to be preempted in areas of business and especially health and medicine so that we can realize how to fit AI into our world.
Everybody, not just the techy people, has to stay tuned for AI. It will be essential to ensure that all of us are going to be on board, handling the changes and challenges coming from AI. In short, the watch for AI is going to form such a huge fraction of our life.

Fact-checkers to reduce misinformations with AI

Date : December 03, 2023

Digital misinformation has already affected several areas of human life. In addition to Governances, recognised facts in political elections, and referendums in the recent past, with further AI and ML development that can generate and modify pictures, videos, and texts and create fake news, AI fact-checkers, even with their challenges related to further development and tuning LLM and NLP to a wide number of evidence to be checked, can represent a valuable resource to fight misinformation, in areas like Politics, Academia, Medicine, Health Research, and Business ( Finance, Financial markets, products and services) through a parallel people responsibility to make ethical use of them to ripristinate the ethical value of information.

New approaches for strategy management with AI- the end or refreshing of classic tools?

Date : October 04, 2023

Most companies today still use traditional tools for making business strategies. But in the future, AI could start changing how strategy is done. AI may bring new capabilities that complement classic methods. For instance, AI can rapidly analyse customer data to detect shifts in demand. It can also quickly model different scenarios to foresee market changes. This could make planning faster and more data-driven. However, AI has limits, like lacking human judgment and creativity. So, pure AI-driven strategy may never fully replace human strategists. Rather, the optimal path forward could be combining AI strengths with human strengths. AI may become an enhancement for strategists, not a replacement. The future likely holds a hybrid model, with AI and classic tools working together in new approaches to strategy. However, widespread adoption is still gradual as companies test these uncharted waters. Strategy and Ai.

Small Language Models (SLMs)

Date : February 20, 2024

Smaller AI models cost less money to use. That saves companies money when they use these models. Companies can also adjust the smaller models to be good at certain jobs. So if a company needs an AI to do one specific thing, they can customize a smaller model just for that job. That makes the model work better. Lastly, with smaller models, companies can have tighter control over the data they put into the model. That's important so they make sure their data stays private and secure. Lots of companies want to protect customer data and business information. The smaller AI models help with that.
So the main reasons are: cheaper to use, can be customized to be great at certain tasks and helps protect important data.

The end of AI and ML "back box" with XAI- Explainable Artificial Intelligence

Date : October 04, 2023

ML and AI have been developed to optimise models by increasing accuracy or decreasing prediction error. However, this approach often overlooks the importance of understanding why and how your ML model makes the predictions that it does. Explainable AI (XAI) seeks to increase transparency within artificial intelligence systems by offering explanations of their decisions, thus increasing trustworthiness for individuals using these technologies and increasing human-align decision-making by showing how AI systems make choices and operate. Overall, this XAI initiative hopes to illuminate its "black box", creating more fair, accountable, and human-aligned systems through understandable actions and decisions made by AI systems.

Trust in AI-individuals about trust in AI, and what is expected from employees, managers, executives

Date : October 04, 2023

Right now, most regular people don't trust AI fully. Employees, managers and executives know trusting AI has risks. But some AI can be trusted for certain tasks if built right. More transparency on how AI works is needed to increase trust. With the right trust, AI adoption and new processes can thrive. However too much trust in unreliable AI can hurt accountability and let biases go unseen. The goal is balanced trust - enough to gain AI benefits but still verify its decisions. Increased trust can enable innovation, but blind trust in AI can damage workplace culture.
