It is a story of passion, leadership and dreams.Founded back in 1959 by Pasquale Natuzzi – current Chairman and Chief Executive Officer – in a small village in the South of Italy, Natuzzi is today among the largest players in its sector, with seven manufacturing plants, twelve commercial offices and more than 1200 points of sale worldwide. 2 Industry Awards
Hackett digital award finalist 2020
The Hackett Group
June 09, 2020
Awarded finalist for the Hackett Group Digital Award.
Project awarded Record-to-Report Analytics & Cockpit Dashboard.

ABB set out to use automation to address a highly fragmented and manual process for tracking its record-to-report team performance, which operate in more than 100 countries with 50+ different ERP systems.

ABB redesigned its system of key performance indicators (KPIs) for record-to-report, shifting from a manual-driven system to one that is fully automated. A balanced and weighted scorecard was created, and all KPIs are now generated automatically from structured and unstructured data sources. Users have full visibility into their scores, via a dashboard, understanding underlying elements, trend analysis, and more, so they can see where improvements are needed. Mindset is moved from producing to using the KPI and this is a strong enabler to the performance of the global business center in finance.

The new system is now at the core of the operations for ABB’s Finance global business center record-to-report teams and part of their yearly performance appraisal. Each month a central team generates the dashboard and identifies, together with the hubs, opportunities to improve by changing the behaviors in operations and generating a better score. Results from the dashboard are now available to everyone, helping boost performance improvement. ABB is now raising the bar further, using data mining tools to identify patterns in journal entries, potential accounting fraud cases, and predict critical areas that require monitoring.

The system, which took six months to develop and fine tune, went into operation globally. It is generating savings largely via freeing up capacity from the staff producing KPIs. Other benefits include reduced conflicts and misperception towards global business services, increased sense of ownership by local teams, and a greater understanding of how efficiency and effectiveness can be improved

How banks are supporting local economies facing the current financial crisis: An Italian perspective
International Journal of Bank Marketing, Vol. 30 Iss: 6, pp.485 - 502
September 07, 2012
Purpose – This paper aims to understand how Italian banks are supporting their local economies in facing the current financial crisis through corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategies.

Design/methodology/approach – This paper is the result of research conducted through multiple case studies to identify best practices in the Italian financial sector.

Findings – The research shows that banks are working in the CSR field, not only with a compliance approach but trying also to support the local economies where they operate.

Research limitations/implications – Only a limited number of banks were studied and the research relied on banks' web sites and documentation – which may be affected by self-reporting bias.

Practical implications – The paper presents an example of how banks can integrate societal needs in their daily business, improving the context and by that improving also their reputation.

Originality/value – The paper illustrates that the current financial crisis offers banks the possibility to rethink their societal role and move from a compliance approach to CSR to a more strategic one.

The strategic relevance of corporate community investments
Corporate Governance
August 09, 2011
Purpose – This paper aims to understand which strategies a multinational can adopt in emerging countries where it operates towards local communities, in terms of sustainability.

Design/methodology/approach – This paper is the result of two-year research, conducted through multiple case studies, with a special focus on emerging markets (Brazil, South Africa, Pakistan, India, Argentina), and the professional experience of the author as an international stakeholder engagement manager in ENI.

Findings – The research identified a 2×2 matrix with four possible strategies coming from the multiple case study analysis and depending on the internal focus of CSR and the external perception of business through local communities. The research also shows how a company can adopt a portfolio of those strategies.

Practical implications – This paper presents a model to be adopted by multinationals both to have the picture of their situation at a certain date and to plan their interventions in emerging countries.
