This book is a reflection on the mix of things make up EdTech. Sure we cover hardware, software, but we also cover file types and digital citizenship. I don’t always provide the answers (and in any case, many ‘answers’ are changing all the time). I ask questions to make you pause and think about what the answers are in your setting. The educator in the room is best placed to know what to do in the interests of students. The EdTech lead in any educational setting is best placed to apply some of this book’s thinking to their college or school.


SJ’s EdTech career shows how far self-starting can take you, which is a great message for this book. Her next step was to qualify as an accredited Google Trainer, Innovator and Coach. As a member of the first virtual Google Innovator cohort, SJ gained global experience in the challenges faced by educators stepping into an online world. She also holds Microsoft certifications, which has broadened her consulting practice with colleges and schools, and she continues her reflective practice as a certificated member of the Association of Learning Technology. In 2021, SJ was named in the UKEdTech50, in recognition of her work.
