Collaborative leadership approach in projects -A fairy tale behind construction project management?
International Association of Project Managers (IAPM)
June 02, 2022
"Where the superiority mentality emerges, that's where the conflicts begin; where the conflicts begin, productivity falls" - This is the moral of the story "The Lion and the Three Bulls", which I watched with my baby. True to the motto: "United we stand, divided we fall". And that's exactly the mindset we need in our construction projects.
Collaborative leadership is the future of any organisation. It is the effective way to work in a mutual context. In an organisation that works towards a common goal, there is a creative and innovative environment.

The impact of COVID-19 cannot be ignored anywhere. Companies around the world have had to shut down in entirely or partially. The issue has been a major challenge for the past two years and the virus has been a topic of heated discussions. The pandemic and the accompanying closure of borders have had a drastic impact on the economy and global markets. This pandemic is undoubtedly one of the biggest challenges in my 12-year career as a project manager. The pandemic has had a severe impact on all areas such as logistics, supply chain and economy. In my opinion, however, construction sectors in particular had to take active action to protect their ongoing projects and also their employees.

We know that a disaster is a sudden, devastating event that significantly disrupts the functioning of a community or society, causing human, material, economic or environmental losses and further crises. Disasters exceed the capacity of society to cope with them using its own resources. Although disasters are often caused by nature, they can also have human causes, such as poor construction or poorly used technology.

Leadership in project management: What we can learn from butterflies and cocoons
International Association of Project Managers (IAPM)
September 01, 2021
We know that all projects involve struggles. Struggles that make you and your team stronger and more confident. In my school days, I once observed the developmental stages of a beautiful butterfly. My grandmother and I were walking through our corridor and there was a hibiscus plant in the courtyard. We noticed that a young caterpillar was eating a hibiscus leaf. Curiosity increased and after a few days we found a silvery cocoon hanging under the leaf. This was really an amazing moment for me. Imagine the stress of a butterfly, how a caterpillar later becomes a beautiful, colourful butterfly. Have you ever imagined that? We can apply the same concept to project management. How can a project manager overcome all difficulties and use them as lessons learned for future projects?

The fine arts of Project Management - Must-have skills for Project Managers
International Association of Project Managers (IAPM)
April 23, 2021
Project management requires flexibility, good judgement, strong leadership and negotiation skills, and a solid knowledge of project management best practices. When I was a child, one of my favourite hobbies was reading the dictionary my grandfather gave me. Every time I looked through my dictionary, I came across a new word. The same applies to projects: For success, we have to work harder. The best example which can be given is when the mother giraffe lovingly lowers her neck to smooch the baby giraffe. Then she lifts her long leg and kicks the baby giraffe, causing it to fly up in the air and tumble to the ground. As the baby lies there curled up, the mother kicks the baby again so that it learns stand on its own legs and walk. A project manager can also overcome all difficulties and adopt the fine arts of project management for project execution.

February 01, 2021
Wasserfall, Agil, Hybrid, KI?

Thoughts of a Project Managers about “Challenges in project management
International Association of Project Managers (IAPM)
October 01, 2020
We know that project management is not a single word. It is one of the depth areas where you and I can discuss about. There are many skills, processes, tools and techniques as well as knowledge areas. Project management is the combination of all of this. A firm or an organisation will face various types of challenges during the project’s lifecycle. It is not only the particular organisations’ challenge, it is the challenge of a project manager and the entire stakeholders as well. These challenges will increase but may become less acute depending on the company structure and project category.
As I had gone through different projects, with short duration and long duration, I am indeed the opinion that project challenges do not depend on the project size. It depends on several factors.
We can say that the most challenging areas of project management for a project manager are mainly these seven types.
