20 years ago, I started working at a POP agency in Leicester, UK. It was my first exposure to the world of retail. And I was hooked.
Retail is where every bit of marketing activity finally delivers – when the end customer finally puts their hand in their pocket (or taps their phone, or shows their face…you get the picture….).
Then we consider shoppers – the fickle, inconsistent, emotionally driven variable that makes it so hard to be sure you got it right. The behavioural aspect of shoppers intrigues me and I love considering their viewpoint.
All of this fascination leads me to starting my own consultancy, aiming to share what I have learnt and to help a broad range of retailers, brands and agencies to clarify their view on the retail landscape

Taking a look at Jack's, Tesco's new value supermarket

I guess it was inevitable that the large UK supermarkets would respond to the growth of the German value pair of Lidl and Aldi. Last week it came to fruition in Chatteris, a small market town out in the Fenlands of Cambridgeshire. I visited the store this week to take a look and share my findings. As a point of comparison, I have included images taken at Aldi in February 2018 and Lidl in November 2015 in the UK.
