Sougata is Post-graduate in Management & Administration (MBA) from Nagpur University. He has subsequently completed programs on Executive Education in Strategic Management at Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIMK), Diploma in Export Management at AIMA-CME, New Delhi and Masterclass for Corporate Directors at IOD, Mumbai and is a Certified Corporate Director, registered with Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
He has over 24 years’ experience in Banking & Pharmaceuticals industries working in diverse geographies and managing multicultural segment of people and business environments. Out of these, about 3 years have been at Board level – In an Executive Position as MD of a NBFC for 2 years plus and as Chairman Cum Managing Director in the Fintech space creating a Neo Banking Enterprise. Several of Sougata’s career assignments have been in nature of leading Business growth, turnaround in performance, couple have been scaled start-ups with national spread and all have had P&L responsibility. He has also successfully groomed successors at various levels in several organizations.
Over these 24 years plus, Sougata has become a competent problem-solver. His area of expertise is Compliance & Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Corporate & Business Strategy, Underwriting & Policy, Strategic Planning & Operations, Business Turnaround and Nurturing & Setting up Start Ups from the various roles he has performed during his tenures with companies as detailed below. Extensive experiences with Banking & Non-Banking Financial Companies have given Sougata deep insights into various industry domains across MSME, Real Estate, SME & Corporate, and Personal Finance space. All the above gives Sougata a unique ability to rapidly grasp situational contexts, identify core issues at hand and analyse various factors involved to arrive at optimal solutions.

In the current role Sougata is an Angel Investor/ Mentor/ Co-Founder & CMD of a Fintech Start Fintech Start up intended to create Neo-Banking platform. This venture is a one of its kind providing solutions in India.
In the earlier role as MD & CEO, Sougata had contributed heavily in setting up the Strategies, Compliance Framework, Technology and building up the talent pool for the organization. As a member of Board, Sougata is a part of Risk Management Committee and an integral part of all the decision making for the company. During his previous journey in past, he has significantly contributed in the field of Corporate Finance, Real Estate Financing, Retail Lending (Home Equity, Home Loans, Personal Loans, and Auto Loans etc.) & Capital Market Business.
Prior to joining Fort Finance Ltd., he was associated with Fedbank Financial (100% Subsidiary of Federal Bank), Aditya Birla Finance, HDFC Bank & ICICI Bank in banking space. He has also contributed significantly during his tenure in pharmaceutical space with AstraZeneca Pharma India and Cipla Ltd.
