There is No Last Mile in Supply Chain
LinkedIn
October 18, 2019
This is a summary of a guest blog post that alloy.ai asked me to share. Their AI solution to data harmonization and supply chain planning inspired me to this writing, which Cindy Chow from Alloy called, "...not so much a blog post as a thesis." I guess I just can't help myself. All of these points are fleshed out much more completely in the Alloy blog post.

What is Digital Transformation, Anyway?

March 13, 2019
Understanding and 5 Easy Steps to Getting There

This term -- Digital Transformation -- is all the rage. It's one of those catch phrases that many don't yet understand, like cloud or omni-channel in their early days. Like many new terms, it describes something fundamental and sometimes makes it harder to get than it ought to be. So let's take a practical look at what digital transformation is and what it means to you.

It’s Time to ACT, Close-ups by Gartner
LinkedIn
May 17, 2017
Yes, it's that time again. The Gartner Supply Chain Executive Conference starts on May 23rd in Phoenix, Arizona. The 22nd if you're truly dedicated, and 21st if you love golf. This is the time when supply chain geeks get together to talk about the activities, trends and successes of the last 12 months.

For many of us it's old-home week. We see colleagues from days gone by, reminisce, kibbitz and kvetch. We eat and drink (just a little), and generally enjoy the hospitality of the Gartner crew in the Valley of the Sun. Did I mention, play a little golf?

S&OP for Reatail? Isn’t that a Manufacturing Thing?
LinkedIn
August 20, 2015
I can tell you that was my first thought when sometime back I read a research article from Gartner Research VP, Mike Griswold. The article, "Retailers Embrace an MIOE Framework for Reduced Inventory and Greater Revenue," is the culmination of Mike's long-held vision that while retail and manufacturing organizations face fundamentally different challenges; demand and supply analysis, coordination and planning on the order of what manufacturers conduct is necessary for retailers. I whole-heartedly agree, and I'm glad someone has taken up the mantle to offer some guidance and rules to live by for retailers.
