Imagination is a powerful thing.
It picks you up from the small room you're in. Floats you out of the life you live every day. And gently settles you into a world where anything can happen—just the way you want.
You see yourself scoring the winning goal for your country. Receiving an award for your achievement. Scooping the lottery jackpot. And meeting your perfect life partner.
This is where everything happens for you, in just the way you like. It’s your YOUniverse. Where you are the supreme overlord; overlady; or over-I-prefer-not-to-say. It’s like you’re on the edge of something big. Something wonderful. Something that you believe you deserve. And it can all feel so real.
For a while…
But then you come back to the world you know.
A world where nothing has changed. Where today is the same as yesterday—and where tomorrow will be the same as today. You look around, and you’re still sitting in the same chair. With the same worries. The same doubts. The same life.
But it’s nice to dream. To escape from reality for a short while.
However, while your dreams are in your imagination, not everything you imagine needs to exist only in your dreams. They’re dreams because the gap between your reality and what you imagine is so immense.
What if you close that gap?
What if you start to imagine some changes that are closer to your reality? Changes that will make a noticeable difference to your life.
When you do this, you aren’t dreaming any more—you’re applying practical imagination. Where your imagination can materially impinge on your daily life.
When you engage your practical imagination, your YOUniverse changes. Because from now on, if you can imagine it, you can achieve it.
Freaky Thinking is about practical imagination. Improving the way you think. Making the negative associations you have with the word change evolve into the positive associations with the term progress.
For the truth is, it’s not the world that holds you back from making progress. It’s you.
You tell yourself so many things in your life are solid and immovable. But they’re not. In the dark, we tend to see shadows that make us nervous because we aren’t sure what they are. Shine a light there and the shadows disappear. The worry evaporates like a snowflake landing on a flame.
Freaky Thinking is a fresh and powerful approach to thinking where you want new and meaningful ideas. Especially on issues that are of value to you. It’s an approach that allows you to point the brilliance of your thinking into the recesses of your life. To illuminate the fact that rather than be devoid of anything useful, intriguing opportunities exist for you there.
There’s light where once there was shadow. And when you realise you can apply the process anywhere, rather than being a feeble flashlight you point—it becomes a brilliant shine you walk towards.
And when you walk towards a sun, the shadows are always behind you.
You'll be amazed at how many things in your life can be changed, as there are very few things that are truly fixed. And those that are, can be dealt with by your own movement and flexibility. Go around them. Take a different route. Look in a different direction.
Or just ignore them and act as if they don’t exist. Ignoring someone or something is sometimes the easiest way to get it out of your mind.
And when you apply your mind to it, there are countless creative ways to avoid something that was previously a blocker for you. And potentially to see a new opportunity just beyond that former blocker.
Back to dreaming…
Your old dream YOUniverse is always there for you whenever you want it. And it will always be perfect for you. Except for one problem—time stands still in it. You never need to commit to moving on. For in a perfect world, you want to wait for the perfect time.
Unfortunately, there is no perfect time!
You are reading this in your reality, not in a dream. The perfect time for you to act in converting your dream world into your reality never comes.
To break out of your current life, stop waiting for the perfect time. Instead, you have to know when the best time is to take the first step.
And the best time is when you make the decision that you want to change your mind and change your thinking. And that best time is right now.
There’s a simple process I’m going to share with you to help you make this change. And you know it so well already!
While you may spend much of your working life focusing on finding the answers. Stop!
Take a different first step. Spend some time posing your first ever killer question.
Time to start thinking for a change…
