A Great Gift for Your Clients
LinkedIn
December 23, 2022
It's holiday season, and I've thought of a great gift for your clients:
Your expertise packaged up in a neat little parcel called a book.
OK, so this may be NEXT year's holiday present to your clients. If you're thinking about writing a book but haven't yet taken the plunge, it's time to consider what it involves and where it could lead! If you start your book project in the next few weeks or months, you could be gifting it to people in time for the holidays, or even sooner.

How do you find your ideal clients? That's a trick question. Your ideal clients find you, but only if you make it easy for them.
This week, I'm sharing my thoughts on how to help your ideal clients know about you and know if you are right for them - and if they are the right ones for you.
Life is short and we are all too valuable to waste valuable time pitching to or working with clients who are not the very best fit for us!
The Rules of Influence Have Changed
LinkedIn
September 23, 2022
These past few months have been challenging for so many people, with uncertainty in the economy, widespread mental and physical health concerns, and the world in general. Of course, life and business still needs to go on, but the after-effects of the pandemic seem to have left people a little more fragile and hesitant to make decisions, follow through with plans and keep commitments to themselves and others.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Yesterday, the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and the world lost an iconic leader. Whatever your views on the monarchy, The Queen lived a life of purpose and service and is an inspiration to many. She accepted her role graciously, at a challenging time in this nation’s history, and she stepped up time and time again to do whatever was required of her.

How Do You Celebrate Challenges?
LinkedIn
July 15, 2022
This week has brought some big challenges, and yet I am challenging myself to find things to celebrate. Not just deal with the issues but actually celebrate.
Do you do this?
I'd love to hear how you choose to celebrate the good things in life, especially when there is a lot of tricky stuff to navigate.
Bring out the little kid in you. Challenge yourself to add fun and maybe a bit of silliness to your day. You may have to get out of your comfort zone to do this. And most of all, recognize, celebrate and encourage the fun-loving people in your network and in your life.

The "Me" You Never See
LinkedIn
July 01, 2022
Everyone tells you that you must share your personality in your marketing and online, to help people get to know, like and trust you. As I’m fond of saying, people don’t engage with a page. But how do you know what to share, or how much to share? Some people seem to find it easy to share very intimate details about their personal lives and experiences, but others find it excruciatingly challenging.

I wanted to write a tribute to the iconic rock band The Rolling Stones to celebrate the fact that it’s been 60 years since they originally formed (can you believe it?). However, I am not a music expert and I’m sure I wouldn’t do justice to the incredible impact and legacy this band had had, and continued to have, on millions of people worldwide.

5 Things You Should Do to Become a Thought Leader in Your Industry
Authority Magazine
September 02, 2019
A thought leader is an influencer, but not all influencers are thought leaders. For example, there are lots of celebrities who are influencers just because of their profile and following. Thought leaders, in my opinion, are sharing exciting, original, disruptive and even groundbreaking new ideas. People should be bold and opinionated, yet respectful. It’s all subjective, of course, so it’s the market who really decides. If the ideas resonate, the leader develops a large following and can have more impact.
There are several very specific things you can do to enhance your reputation as a true thought leader in your industry. This article goes through five of them.

Thoughtful Leadership in a Digital World
Bookboon
April 30, 2021
The business world and the society in general could do with more thoughtful leadership, but there’s a lack of understanding as to how to be more thoughtful. Leaders are sometimes out of their depth, faced with challenging team members and demanding stakeholders.
Coupled with the fact that business seems to be moving and changing faster than ever, thinking carefully about ideas, issues and people can seem like a nice-to-have, when it is more critical than ever.
Thoughtful leadership involves consideration – of ideas and people – and there are specific strategies to improve in this area.
This book shows the reader exactly how to create a thoughtful leadership strategy that gets results.

Why Thought Leadership is More Important than Ever
Emerald Insight - Strategic Direction
February 13, 2009
The purpose of this paper is to introduce executives to the idea of creating a writing and publishing strategy as part of their public relations (PR) and profile building
The paper provides a perspective on creating an executive writing and publishing strategy – why and how to do it.
The paper reveals that business leaders who write and publish have a higher profile and hence more business opportunities than their competitors
The practical implications are how to view writing and publishing as part of the marketing mix; how to organize one's ideas into a coherent plan; and how to maximize the return on investment of time and effort.
This paper is based on a proven methodology (ten years in practice, 100+ books and articles produced by business leaders). In a competitive market, executives have a hard enough time keeping their eye on the business and the bottom line. In times of stress, many people forget about marketing and strategic marketing of the company's top executives is rarely done. It is a well known fact that people buy from people, and top executives are starting to realize the importance of being seen and heard, and sharing personal views on key issues. A good writing and publishing strategy is the most effective way to do this and leading writing and publishing strategist Mindy Gibbins‐Klein shares her best ideas in this timely article.

Mindy Gibbins-Klein: How To Become A Thought(ful) Leader
YouTube
July 12, 2021
(From the interview)
You can get a pop star or somebody being an INFLUENCER and they're not necessarily a THOUGHT LEADER.
You must ACHIEVE these four things, otherwise, it's unlikely you'll be a thought leader:
(R)each, (E)ngagement, (A)uthority, and (L)ongevity
Unless you push and push and push yourself and challenge yourself and keep yourself to a VERY HIGH STANDARD, you're not going to get to that real gem of an idea.
An article or a blog is not thought leadership unless it's truly INTERESTING, EXCITING, DIFFERENT, ORIGINAL, DISRUPTIVE and you know, making heads turn.
