Dr. Sunil Kumar Vuppala is the Director – Data Science, Ericsson Global AI Accelerator (GAIA), Bangalore. Sunil worked in Oracle, Infosys R&D and Philips Research before joining Ericsson.

Sunil is a lead inventor of 20+ patents (6 granted and 14+ pending applications). He has published more than 30 papers in both international journals and conferences. He is a senior member of ACM and IEEE and Fellow of IETE. Featured among the Top 10 data scientists in India and 40 under 40 data scientists in 2019 by Analytics India Magazine. As Co-chair of industry engagement in IEEE Bangalore section and visiting faculty at Great Lakes, INSOFE, he has taught AI and analytics (100s of lectures) and inspired thousands of working professionals and students to take to the data science field. Regular speaker in the top AI forums with 30+ tech talks / keynotes across India, Europe and US in last 3 years.

Sunil received B.Tech (CSE) from JNTU, Hyderabad in 2002 and M.Tech (IT) from IIT Roorkee in 2004 and Ph.D. (IT) from IIIT Bangalore in 2018. He completed his Senior Management Program (SMP) from IIM Ahmedabad in 2019.

The sedation assessment system comprises at least one stimulus generator, a controlling device, at least one sensing device, and a sedation determination device. The controlling device is configured to generate at least one control signal including a first control signal and/or a second control signal. The at least one stimulus generator comprises a remote haptic device configured to induce, from a distance, a haptic sensation at a first impact region on a patient's skin in response to the first control signal. Additionally or alternatively, the at least one stimulus generator comprises a heating and/or cooling device attachable to a second impact region on a patient's skin and configured to heat or cool the second impact region for inducing a pain sensation in response to the second control signal. The at least one sensing device is configured to detect a patient reaction in response to the haptic sensation and/or the pain sensation. The sedation determination device is configured to determine, based on the detected patient reaction, a sedation level of the patient.

In order to provide a more efficient patient flow for autonomous image acquisition, a method is provided for controlling a patient transfer apparatus within a healthcare facility. The method comprises the following steps: providing a routing information for transferring the patient transfer apparatus to a required location; controlling the patient transfer apparatus to move on a first guided path according to the provided routing information; detecting at least one of a vital sign and an abnormal movement of the patient during a transit of the patient transfer apparatus; evaluating a patient condition based on at least one of the detected vital sign and the detected abnormal movement of the patient; updating the routing information in response to the evaluated patient condition, if the evaluated patient condition meets a predefined criterion; and controlling the patient transfer apparatus to move on a second guided path according to the updated routing information during the transit of the patient transfer apparatus.

The personalized recommendation system receives information on medical history, one or more available lifestyle parameters of a first type of plurality of lifestyle parameters and one or more available vital parameters of a first type of plurality of vital parameters, associated with subject and estimates at least one of, one or more non-available lifestyle parameters of a second, different type and one or more non-available vital parameters of a second, different type based on at least one of, one or more available vital parameters of the first type and one or more available lifestyle parameters of the first type, using Neural Network (NN) model trained to identify correlations between the plurality of lifestyle parameters and the plurality of vital parameters and to identify correlations between the parameters and medications and medicine dosage levels. The personalized recommendation system predicts medicine dosage level, changes to be made in lifestyle parameters, indication to visit clinician and details on interaction between medications based on received information and estimation using trained NN model and provides personalized recommendation to at least one of subject and clinician associated with subject based on prediction.

A system, medium and method of managing, via a gateway device, to wirelessly communicate with a plurality of network appliances in a closed local area network is disclosed. A data message is received from a first network appliance configured to communicate data in association with a first application profile. The first application profile is retrieved from a locally stored application profile database upon being identified. A database is accessed at the gateway device containing policy information of the first network appliance and evaluated for one or more policy parameters. A first instruction command is generated at the gateway device based on the accessed policy information, wherein the instruction command conforms with the first application profile to instruct the first network appliance to perform a specified action. The instruction command is wirelessly transmitted from the gateway device to the first network appliance to cause it to perform a specified action.

A method and system for adaptive aggregation of data in a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is disclosed. The method receiving one or more packets produced from a plurality of sensor nodes at an aggregator sensor node. The method further includes categorizing and storing the received packets in the buffer queue of the aggregator node. Then initiating an aggregation process by selecting an aggregation mechanism. The aggregation mechanism is selected based on the feedback value and a special instruction. The aggregated packets are forwarded to the base station based on an aggregation function.

A method for creating a virtual Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is disclosed. The method includes extracting one or more niceties of a physical WSN and embedding at least one of the extracted niceties in a soft object to represent one or more sensor nodes of the physical WSN. A method for tracking one or more portable devices in real time to detect theft of the one or more portable devices is provided. The method enables, firstly, interrogating a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag via a RFID reader during successive sweep intervals. The sweep interval represents active state of the RFID reader. Secondly, the method enables receiving one or more pairing information from the RFID tag. Further, the method enables comparing the one or more pairing information with corresponding one or more pairing information stored in the RFID reader. Finally, the method enables generating an alert signal via the wearable-band or the one or more portable devices when the one or more pairing information does not match with the corresponding one or more pairing information stored in the RFID reader.
