Thinking Fast and Slow correction
Academia.edu
May 28, 2025
How critical thinking uncovered an error in “Thinking, Fast and Slow” Following consultation with Professor Shane Frederick of Yale’s School of Management, I offer a small correction to Nobel Laureate Daniel Kahneman’s summary of Shane’s research in his best-selling book: “Thinking, Fast and Slow” Craig Cockburn, Edinburgh, Scotland April 2025. Introduction Critical thinking is the process of analysing available data, assumptions, and arguments to reach sound conclusions, with deference to looking out for common biases behavioural researchers have spent roughly 60 years documenting. This is not a completely new challenge. Calls for greater application date back to Socrates (C. 470–399 BC) and include Devil’s advocacy (1587), Kriegsspiel (1812) and Red Teaming as applied to both business & military decision making (Hoffman, 2017).

Work from home, office or hybrid?
Import from medium.com
May 18, 2021
Answer? None of the above when mandated. This is a framing of a question around how an organisation approaches the new ways of working as we come out of lockdown and we can see the benefits of normal working from home, not working from home in a pandemic trying to home school as well. Also, for clari

The dysfunction of the 9am standup
Import from medium.com

9am standups are probably a sign of organisational dysfunction. Why?Easy one: the scrum guide calls them “daily scrums” and in any case “standup” is not disability friendly. If you’re not standing, don’t misuse the term or offend people in wheelchairs. I’ll call them “daily meetings
