Laurent Kahl has recently joined the International Trade ( Export/Import ) Consulting team of the Small Business Development Center, of the University of Georgia’s Gwinnett Campus.
Laurent has extensive private sector experience in the International ( Export/Import) Trade field – over 4 decades working both for private and semi-Government entities . Prior to joining UGA’s SBDC International Trade Center, Laurent was a self-employed consultant for GlobalFootprints LLC., an import / export consultancy that helped small-and-medium (SME’s) size businesses navigate and succeed in the international trade arena. GlobalFootprints helped facilitate company set-ups of import / export departments, and provided expertise in establishing effective operational approaches to international channel partners selection, logistics options, sales and marketing strategies, documentation, finance, market research, product pricing, market entry, trade insurance selection, and much more.
Prior to creating GlobalFootprints in 2013, Laurent also worked for a wide range of large Multi-Nationals Enterprises ( MNE’s) including: HELLA (German automotive parts manufacturer) selling in South America; Habasit America (Swiss manufacturer of conveyor components and motors) selling in Latin America; International Paper (major American paper manufacturer) selling in the Middle East, Latin America, and Canada; Kaiser Aluminum (U.S. manufacturer of fertilizers and chemicals) selling to the Americas; and Hercules International (U.S. wood products manufacturer) selling to the European Union and the Caribbean Basin.
Laurent has additional international logistics experience working for the Port of Charleston as a Regional Cargo Sales Manager – Northeast Region, in New York City.
As for his Import experience, he created his own importing venture, Filter Supply America, where he represented a major German manufacturer of industrial filters (Mann + Hummel) that were distributed and sold in the U. S. and Canada. Laurent also acted as an (Importer) Manufacturers Representative for LM Handling SPA. , a family owned company based in Modena, Italy that manufactured high quality, custom made, high speed industrial conveyors and accessories.
