Originally a chemical engineer, John Bessant is currently Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Exeter with visiting appointments at the universities of Erlangen-Nuremburg, Germany and Stavanger, Norway. In 2003 he was elected a Fellow of the British Academy of Management and in 2016 a Fellow of the International Society for Professional Innovation Management (ISPIM). He has consulted widely to firms, governments and NGOs and is the author of 30 books (including the best-selling 'Managing innovation') and many articles on the topic of innovation and entrepreneurship.
