Building a Change Network - Three key factors
Linkedin
July 02, 2018
One year ago we kicked off our first change network training with a handful of employees. The goal: to support major operational changes impacting roles, processes, leaders, and work alignment through a deliberate change management approach. This was our first big step toward creating a change culture and environment at Blue Cross Blue Shield NC. Yet, in all honesty, I was not sure if it would work. In the past, during all the craziness of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), we trained many employees in change theory to support business change but it never really made an impact. While there were many challenges a major one was change management wasn't treated as part of their job. Today the change networks impact has been phenomenal! I did not anticipate this much excitement and interest.

Change Ambassadors - Quick User Guide
Linkedin
February 05, 2018
At Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCNC) we began the change ambassador program in response to all the changes around the Affordable Care Act (aka Obama Care) to support our case managers. The growth and confusion that came from ACA forced us to accelerate communications and actions needed to meet needs of new customers while maintaining service to our members. The role of the change ambassador was designed to identify influential line staff who had "street-cred", self-confidence, and grit to give leaders the real truth around changes impacting staff. They were trained in the basic understanding the William Bridges' Transition model, some basic direction, tools, and a point of contact to begin the vital feedback loop required to begin to engage with staff. We intentionally keep the ask of them simple since they have their regular busy jobs consuming their time. Yet, it continues to be a powerful role strategy for us.

If there is outside expectations, I am more responsive. I don't do a good job of responding to my inner expectations. HOW did I manage a PhD??
