Is it just me or was that strange polar vortex (here in Chicago, IL) a welcomed break for what felt like the longest Monday ever? Seriously, it’s February, so you know what that means, right? You’re probably reassessing those 2019 goals. Some of you aren’t as disciplined as you thought you’d be and the rest of you are mildly pleased with the results? The rest of you are rolling your eyes and thinking you don’t have enough time. Let me say – we all have the same 24hrs. We just use them differently. Most of us are giving 6-10 of those hours to our job. And the entrepreneurs are giving 12-15 of those hours to making their business work. If you don’t understand that – let me put in laymen’s terms – scared money don’t make money. But how do you take back work? How do you get your 24hrs to work for you when it comes to your career?

Spring is in the air, which is my favorite time of the year. For one reason alone, my birthday. I’m a proverbial ENTJ, Aries, Type 8 female prototype. I have apparent childlike proclivities (too trusting versus immature), I stand at 5’10.5, and when I want something – I become one cold, calculated, force to reckon. In the pursuit of my passions (because it’s 2019 – you can do multiple things), I unwittingly become a source of inspiration for others. Thirty-plus years later, I’ve learned not to mind. But I do silently caution others not to follow my lead if they are not interested in the deeper motivation of why I act and do things – context matters. I firmly believe we all have a story to tell, but our experiences are not isolated happenings from the more magnificent tale of the human spirit, struggle, and resilience.

Holy shit! How can it be August? Where was I in the past 8 months? Did I do what I said I was going to do? Did I adjust plans to meet goals? When I tripped and fell on my face – did I recover? Well, of course. Have you met me? I don’t suffer fools gladly. My emotional honesty gets more eye rolls than rounds of applause but due to a Teflon finish – discomfort does not phase me much. I honestly believe you grow more when you’re uncomfortable.
