The Benefits of Creative Thinking in Strategic Planning Success
Linkedin
April 02, 2024
When the only constant is change, the traditional playbook of strategic planning often falls short in navigating the turbulence of current times. It's not enough to create a 3-5 year plan and stick to it. To truly thrive, both individuals and organizations must embrace creativity as the linchpin of their strategic thinking to plan for the unexpected.

Three positive and reliable ways to give feedback like an artist
No one likes to be criticized. When someone expresses a negative opinion of you, your work or your ideas, how do you feel? Not great, I'd imagine. You may get a flood of emotions, become defensive and resentful, and you may even shut down. End of conversation, right?

Second Draft: Rewrite Your Midlife Career With Creative Intelligence
Goldfinch Leadership Publications
February 20, 2025
Praise for Second Draft:
Dr. Marshall Goldsmith, Thinkers50 #1 Executive Coach & NYT Bestselling Author of The Earned Life, Triggers, and What Got You Here Won’t Get You There says, “Second Draft is a powerful, insightful guide for anyone looking to redefine their professional path with clarity, purpose, and creativity! Veronica masterfully weaves personal stories and examples with actionable strategies to help readers embrace change and unlock their full potential. This book is more than a career roadmap, it’s an invitation to see midlife as an opportunity to rewrite your story with wisdom, resilience, and bold new possibilities.”

Rewrite Your Career. Reimagine Your Life.

In times of disruption, adapting isn’t optional. It’s essential. Add in midlife career changes, technology shifts, and planning your next chapter, and the challenge demands more than just logic or grit. They require creativity. And being human is your greatest strength.

Second Draft introduces you to Creative Intelligence (CQ), the powerful combination of creative thinking, emotional intelligence (EQ), and strategic action. While EQ may be the skill everyone knows is crucial (but no one enjoys learning), CQ makes it intuitive. By enhancing your CQ, you’ll tap into your creativity and grow your EQ naturally, helping you navigate disruption, build confidence, and tackle change with confidence.

This practical guide equips future-focused professionals with the tools to rewrite their careers and navigate life’s complexities with purpose. Pivoting to a new field, planning an encore career, or rediscovering your passion? Second Draft will help you transform challenges into opportunities.

Inside, you’ll discover how to:

Harness ideas and emotions to fuel creativity and momentum.

Reframe fear, frustration, and boredom as opportunities for growth.

Customize your approach to leverage your natural thinking style.

Build a career plan that reflects your aspirations and values.

By 2030, career transitions won’t be optional. They’ll be inevitable. The question is: Will you be ready? Every professional, whether you realize it or not, will face change. You can prepare now, or you can wait and react from a place of upheaval.

For professionals in their 40s–60s and beyond, Second Draft is essential reading for anyone ready to move beyond outdated scripts and draft a career and life on your terms.

By strengthening your Creative Intelligence (CQ), you can take control of your next chapter and meet change on your terms.

Equally valuable for managers and coaches who support others.

Creative Intelligence (CQ) - A Case Study in Thriving Amid Disruption
Goldfinch Leadership
March 13, 2026
Creative Intelligence (CQ): A Case Study in Applied Coaching and Leadership Development

This case study presents Creative Intelligence (CQ), an applied framework that integrates emotional awareness, creative thinking, and strategic action to support clear thinking and forward movement in complex situations. It explores how CQ is used in coaching and leadership development to address a common gap: the difficulty of translating insight into action.

Using data from coaching cohorts and professional seminars, the study demonstrates consistent patterns, including reduced overwhelm, increased clarity, and improved readiness to navigate disruption. It also shows how CQ scales across individual, relational, and organizational levels, providing a practical approach to working through complexity in real-world conditions.

CQ Snacks (Free Monthly Sessions)

Location: Virtual on Zoom    Date : May 28, 2026 - December 24, 2026     Organizer: Goldfinch Leadership

CQ Snacks are short, monthly sessions designed to explore how people think, decide, and take action in complex, real-world situations.

Each 30 minute session draws on Creative Intelligence (CQ), a practical approach that coordinates emotional awareness, creative thinking, and deliberate action. Rather than focusing on theory, the emphasis is on use: how to shift perspective, reduce overwhelm, and identify a next step that can be tested immediately.

Sessions are interactive and structured to support quick application. A typical session includes brief framing, guided reflection, and an opportunity to apply the idea to a real scenario. Participants are encouraged to bring something they are actively working through, though examples are provided for those who prefer to observe.

Topics vary from month to month and often reflect common patterns that arise in coaching, leadership, and decision-making. These include moments where people feel stuck despite having insight, situations where overthinking delays action, and environments where uncertainty makes it difficult to move forward.

CQ Snacks are intended to be accessible and practical. They offer a way to engage with new ways of thinking without a large time commitment, while still producing something useful: a clearer perspective, a more grounded response, or a small step that can be tested in real time.

CQ Snacks are free and open to the public, with optional registration depending on the session. They take place on the 4th Thursday of every month at 12:30 pm ET.
