Ayanda Vabaza-Mvandaba CA(SA)

Cape Town, South Africa

My journey as a Chartered Accountant began with a fascination for numbers and a passion for empowering businesses and young people. At KPMG, I honed my skills in financial services and engineering, gaining valuable experience in both listed and unlisted markets. This foundation has equipped me to guide SMMEs towards best practices in financial reporting, governance, scaling, and sustainability.

After two years in asset management, I expanded my skillset to include audit, due diligence services, and valuations for transactions. I thrive on helping clients navigate complex challenges, whether it's securing funding, implementing sustainable practices, transforming operations, or executing successful turnarounds.

I'm actively involved in youth development initiatives aimed at tackling unemployment and improving education. Additionally, I serve on boards and board committees, sharing my insights and expertise. I'm also a sought-after speaker, engaging audiences on topics related to finance, business growth, and youth empowerment.

In South Africa, music isn't just a soundtrack; it's woven into the fabric of our culture, our identity, and our ability to express the full spectrum of human emotions. Gender Lens Investing: A key tool for women’s financial literacy
IOL
May 05, 2024
This article discusses Gender Lens Investing (GLI) as a key tool for improving women's financial literacy in South Africa. It highlights that past economic exclusion, unequal education, and aggressive credit marketing have contributed to a significant knowledge deficit, leading to uneven wealth distribution. The article emphasizes that women are disproportionately affected, earning less than men and facing challenges like rising childcare costs and debt. GLI is presented as a strategy to address these inequalities by promoting financial inclusion through investments that prioritize gender diversity, mentorship programs, and tailored financial services for women. The article asserts that GLI can challenge traditional investment norms, demonstrate the economic potential of women, and foster a more inclusive financial environment, ultimately leading to greater financial security and economic empowerment for women.
