Matthew Holland CEO, Founder, Entrepreneur and Veteran

CEO at Synergistic Creations, Inc. (The KnKt'd Platforms)

Portland, Oregon, United States

Matt Holland is a healthcare professional turned technologist; his past career was spent working in the behavioral health field collectively for over 18 plus years in 3 different States in the western United States.

After many years working on the ground level, supervising and administrating programs across many health systems, he saw too many huge disparities in the systems he worked in and for. After a time, the dream of the KnKt’d platform was born.

The KnKt'd platform connects providers and patients between care appointments, helps to cultivate the patient/provider therapeutic relationship, aids in bolstering patient engagement and brings in robust data to better understand a person’s journey to wellness, all while helping build self-efficacy.

Matt continues to advocate for change in the collective health system on various councils and committees. He wrote on the Pulse and on The Huffington Post and now continues to write on Medium. Talks frequently on panels and during speaking engagements about the changing landscape of behavioral & physical healthcare and the new era of technology.

Matt spends his free time: writing, reading, hiking, practicing Aikido, enjoying the beauty of the world around him, but most of all spending time with his 4 children.

When Mental Health Goes Digital
Transformative Technology Technology for Mental Health, Wellbeing, and Joy
June 10, 2019
We have all seen points of darkness and places filled with light. Witnessed storm filled days and the sun’s rays piercing through cloudy skies. We are all together part of this collective experience as we travel on our paths through time. So no one should ever feel as if they've traveled alone through any trial of life.

How Come, Outcomes Don't Really Exist?
Huffington Post
December 07, 2017
In order to understand a problem we must see the whole picture. If we are unable to see what happens in the middle or what makes individuals re-engage the system then we are missing one of the most vital parts of the picture.

Dear Divided States of America and the World; Why?
Huffington Post
August 14, 2017
So many across this imperfect blue green marble are preoccupied with money, fame, survival, control, hate and mastering time.
Countless inhabitants underneath our collective blue umbrella amass fortunes, hoarding it without attempting to share their knowledge and lift others up.
Droves of humanity exist without even really living, teaching, or understanding the existence of our short time on this rock.

LinkedIn Pulse
April 05, 2017
The world’s portrayal may have you believe that the real life of an entrepreneur (well looky there, it’s the title) is all successes, rapid growth, IPO and acquisitions. The reality is much much different, and the leagues of entrepreneurs working globally towards that 1 to 5% golden apple status is astounding. The Airbnb’s, UBER’s, Slack’s, Snap Chat’s, Drop Box’s, Jindong’s, Spotify’s, and Xiaomi’s (to name a few), all began as fledglings trying to spread their wings and fly. However, the real trick in the end seems to be staying aloft and then continually catching those thermals.

Alone, We Are Afraid to Be...
Huffington Post
November 03, 2015
In this era of immersion, in a world now limitless, where distance means nothing; many feel more alone now than ever before. Every day we are bombarded with information (good/bad/ugly) in every waking moment of our lives. It is no wonder why insomnia, behavioral health challenges, suicide and so much more is on the rise.

The Future is Upon Us, But the Choice is Yours.
LinkedIn Pulse
June 13, 2015
It is time to redefine the way we interact, time to re-imagine what is possible and time for change. We are a society that has become immersed in technology, embracing it more over than anything else. The sky is the limit and innovation is the key.

?MENTAL HEALTH A PANDEMIC OF EPIDEMIC PROPORTIONS?
LinkedIn Pulse
May 09, 2015
Like an Ostrich with it's feet firmly placed on the sand and it's head deep beneath, we continue to ignore the problems that lay at our collective feet. So many cry out for the winds to change, but our masses continue to be destroyed by disorders of the mind from within. Will we ever learn to look past the path so heavily trodden and realize that the Pandemic of Epidemics has laid its Grimm hands upon us.

Lions and Tigers and Self Reporting! Oh My!
LinkedIn Pulse
April 25, 2015
I find it interestingly comical that individuals have claimed issue with client self-reporting. Stuck a flag upon the mountains of humanity and declared that people are not reliable enough to report about their own issues. Is this the death of, “Do for, Do with and Cheer on?” (Vroon VDB LLC). A phrase used most often in WRAP around, peer and family support

Business Startup Spotlight: KnKt’d

November 15, 2016
I knew that there was a better way to provide more consistent care. I knew to help people be more connected with their self and their providers, the care had to be on a daily basis, not just a monthly basis. One morning after a dream-filled night, I woke with the idea of KnKt’d.

Rising Star: Matt Holland of Knkt’d takes Healthcare Out of the Doctor’s Office
OEN
October 03, 2016
When was the last time you talked to your doctor?

Aside from the annual physical, most people in the U.S. only communicate with their doctors when something is wrong. During these conversations, cursory questions are asked, a recommendation is made, and, if you’re lucky, you might find yourself on the receiving end of a follow-up call.

B4Stage4
Mental Health America
May 11, 2015
When we think about cancer, heart disease, or diabetes, we don’t wait years to treat them. We start before Stage 4—we begin with prevention. When people are in the first stage of those diseases and are beginning to show signs or symptoms like a persistent cough, high blood pressure, or high blood sugar, we try immediately to reverse these symptoms. We don’t ignore them. In fact, we develop a plan of action to reverse and sometimes stop the progression of the disease. So why don’t we do the same for individuals who are dealing with potentially serious mental illness?

Technological Tools for Ongoing Recovery Support
Addiction Professional Summit 2016
February 04, 2016
Treatment professionals define addiction as a lifelong illness, but too many programs still treat addiction like an acute-care issue, with little attention to what happens to the patient after “primary treatment” ends. In an era of accountable care, successful addiction treatment centers will be the drivers of recovery-oriented systems of care, serving a wider range of patient needs beyond substance use outcomes alone. This session will offer an overview of how treatment centers can be more patient- and recovery-focused, from the time a patient enters treatment to the post-discharge period.
