The Fifth Industrial Revolution Will NOT Take Our Jobs
ISG
November 19, 2025
Work is changing. It always has. Each major shift brings the same fear that machines will take over. But history shows the opposite. Every new tool creates new roles, and those who learn how to use them move forward.

Industry 4.0 followed the same path, automating some work while creating more valuable jobs and expanding the economy. The same is true now with Industry 5.0, which will reward those who focus on real skills. Not theory. Not hype.

The smart manufacturing workplace of the future will reward those who learn new tools, understand connected systems and build what truly matters. That is the way forward.

This need for seamless flow of real-time information across an enterprises’ value chain has also given birth to the need for a connected edge - the ability to embed intelligence in a company’s products and services leveraging IoT capabilities, allowing the organization to sense and respond to a customer’s issues and needs at a moment's notice - often before the customer even realizes the issue or need. Digital engineering provides the integration of mechanical, electrical and software engineering skills to make this connected future a possibility. In this session the presenters will showcase actual ISG client successes to discuss the evolution of digital engineering, how it will evolve over the next few years with an infusion of Artificial intelligence, and what IT service providers need to do to capture the substantial digital engineering opportunities in the market to help their clients realize their vision of a connected.
