I wrote this little paper in 2016, playing Paul Revere to the insurance industry, telling them to pay heed and take advantage of an upcoming wave of the gig economy. It’s funny because it was called “the on-demand economy”! Uber had just started to operate in my town of Palm Beach, Florida. I could sense that a wave was coming, but I thought we had seen its crescendo as the hard market in insurance was past-due, and we knew that we were going through rapid economic growth.

Yesterday, I called a buddy candidate of mine to see about his new employer, asked why he decided to join Swett & Crawford (Swett to most of us in the business) about a year ago. A no nonesense, former Navy guy who tells it like it is. A Big broker too. So, I knew he had done his homework.
