Robotics: The Rise of Intelligent, Precise, and Agile Machines

One of my favorite music videos is Nigel Stanford’s Automatica. In that video, Nigel features amazing robotic arms from KUKA Robotics playing several musical instruments. I shared the video with a colleague and she was unimpressed: “…robots playing music is okay. Do you know that some robots are performing surgeries?” She is right on the surgery aspect–I still think the musical performance in Nigel’s video is amazingly cool.

Nanotechnology: Weaving the Future One Nanometer at a Time

Back in 2015, I spent some time in one of my favorite places, Provence, in southern France. One evening, while walking along the narrow stone-paved streets of Roussillon–a picturesque small town with ochre-colored houses, vineyards, and lavender fields–I noticed something running across the road. As I got closer I found this cute little Moorish gecko right there in the middle of the road!
