My 2021 LinkedIn Journey
Linkedin
January 10, 2022
f you knew me professionally back in 2020, you would know that my digital presence has markedly changed since then.
I developed a thought leadership strategy that leveraged LinkedIn as the tool to build a personal brand and increase my network of meaningful industry contacts.
In the past few months as I started to gain a lot of traction - I’ve been approached by dozens of individuals (and even a handful of companies) wanting to know what I did, how I did it, and why? In response, I thought I would put “My LinkedIn Journey” together to help answer some of those questions.

Trusting AI
Linkedin
September 17, 2021
How much should you trust Artificial Intelligence (AI)?
If you lift up the hood on Artificial Intelligence you will discover it is complicated. Even if the decisions it makes can be technically explained, the process is often too difficult for most people to understand.
The more people start to rely on a technology they don’t understand, the more anxiety they are bound to have. This can especially be true when it comes to interacting with AI as a replacement for a human. Can AI understand and demonstrate feelings such as empathy?

How Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are transforming #manufacturing
IIoT-World
December 08, 2021
With the digital transformation of industry, more and more data are being generated. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning enable engineers and data scientists to structure, analyze and evaluate the enormous volume of data. The application scenarios range across the lifecycle: Smart recommendations, generative design, anomaly detection, and preventive maintenance optimize the way and pace with which products are designed and produced.
To make use of industrial-grade AI applications in a reliable and value-adding way, they must interact seamlessly with software and automation and the corresponding IT infrastructure. Therefore, collaboration and open ecosystems are crucial to leveraging the great potential of these technologies.

Emerging Trends
IoT Marketing
January 27, 2022
This interview was filmed as part of IoT Marketing’s live event, the “2022 Emerging Trends Edition” of Industry Insights Webinars. As part of it, I answer 7 questions:
1) Where do you see our society in the timeline expected for Digital Transformation and Industry 4.0?
2) PPT development for revolutionizing people, processes, and technology dates back to as early as the 1960’s but how has this vision changed? Or not changed?
3) What are you seeing for how this data is being used and how do you measure the ROI?
4) What is the new meaning of Smart? How has the term changed in your opinion?
5) Is there a digital divide in manufacturing? How much of a disadvantage is there for those that are unaware of this technology?
6) Can you share a tip for how to make Digital Transformation successful?
7) What is one of your predictions for emerging trends in 2022?

Industry 4.0 maturity
LinkedIn
January 20, 2022
Although many companies are starting to adopt "Industry 4.0 technologies", very few are close to the vision and benefits of Industry 4.0.
If you aren't familiar with acatech – Deutsche Akademie der Technikwissenschaften , they produce some of the best academic research and insight on Industry 4.0. This Maturity model was first created in 2016 and updated in 2020. In addition, Acatech released an awesome complimentary whitepaper to their Maturity model for more insights and case studies (https://lnkd.in/ensan8S)
I put together this visual to help illustrate the findings and provide some additional commentary on example enabling technologies.
Personally, I found it most fascinating to see the distribution of companies maturity stages based on the four structural areas:

Difference in Perception
Linkedin
November 30, 2021
Did the pandemic change Digital Transformation…or did Digital Transformation change the pandemic?
Everyone perceives the world slightly differently. Even the simplest and objective of things can take on different meanings depending on feelings, environment, and context. We choose to select different aspects of a message to focus our attention based on what interests us, what is familiar to us, or what we consider important.
From the business point of view, think about how much has changed in the past two years. How many people perform their job the same way as they did back in 2019 before the pandemic? How many companies have reinvented themselves? How many new innovations have been created? How many new technologies were invented? How many new business models were implemented?
In my opinion, Digital Transformation is one area that has seen tremendous perception changes in the past few years, especially in terms of value. What used to be an industry buzzword and merely a visionary long-term strategy has been pushed to the forefront as an urgent necessity for survival.
The irony is that Digital Transformation requires businesses to simultaneously adapt to the changing world yet enables them to do so; making it easier to address, tackle, and overcome the challenges of today, while simultaneously preparing for a more sustainable future.
Depending on what part you play in Digital Transformation (e.g. Supplier, Integrator, User) or where you sit in the value chain (inbound logistics, operations, outbound logistics, marketing/sales, or services) you may have an entirely different perception of what it really means, what its value is, and how it can become beneficial for you.
