PROGRAM TITLE: Diversity for Dollars: Real Talk on the Value of Diversity Certification
SPEAKER: Jamie Crump
PRESENTATION SUMMARY
This session is designed for diverse entrepreneurs who are considering obtaining a diversity certification or renewing their certification. They may be new to supplier diversity or on the fence about whether or not they want to keep their certification.
In her talk, “Diversity for Dollars: Real Talk on the Value of Diversity Certification” Jamie Crump reaches into her experience developing, managing and growing supplier diversity strategies in Corporate America. This presentation gets to the root of when diversity certification is a good business decision for entrepreneurs whether they have been in business for years or are just starting out. This candid presentation is about what happens after the certification and answers the questions: What should you expect to see in the way of benefits and dollars? What should you be ready to do to obtain it?
DESIRED ACHIEVABLE STATE
Obtaining diversity status (LGBTQ, disabled, minority, service-disabled veteran, veteran, and woman owned businesses) is something every diverse business owner will be told at one time or another they should get, but is it really worth it? Many diverse business owners work to obtain their certification status but are not always sure what to do with it once they have it. In this program, Jamie outlines what the business owner’s expectations should be and what they will have to do to leverage 100% of the opportunity that is out there.
LEARNING OBJECTIVE
By the end of the presentation, audience members will:
• Understand the business strategy behind supplier diversity.
• Be able to identify if certification will work for them and if so, how.
• Have a five-step methodology for assessing events for dollars.
