Dr. Saravanan Somasundaram

Dr. Saravanan Somasundaram is an experienced manufacturing and technology leader with over 20 years of experience in Silicon Photovoltaic (PV) and semiconductor industries, recognized for driving large-scale industrial transformation, technology commercialization, and operational excellence.

Currently serving as Deputy General Manager - Manufacturing Process at EMMVEE Energy Pvt. Ltd., he leads both cell manufacturing operations, driving strategic initiatives in capacity expansion, operational efficiency, and technology adoption. He works closely with executive leadership on capital planning, process scaling, and long-term manufacturing strategy. Prior to this, he held leadership roles at RenewSys India Pvt. Ltd., IIT Bombay, and TATA BP Solar, where he led cross-functional teams, implemented advanced manufacturing systems, and enabled successful technology transfer from R&D to high-volume production. He is a Lean Six Sigma Advanced Green Belt from Indian Statistical Institute along with certifications in IMS auditing and executive leadership.

Saravanan holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and has been a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and at the University of New South Wales, Australia. He has received various research fellowships from DOS-ISRO, DRDO, Government of India, and the Endeavour Research Fellowship from the Government of Australia. These fellowships enabled him to work in renowned research organisations such as Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Nuclear Science Centre and Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation.

Saravanan has authored 40+ international publications and delivered 50+ invited talks at global conferences & workshops. He actively contributes to the scientific and industrial community as an editorial board member, reviewer, academic advisor, and PhD examiner. His contributions have been acknowledged with prestigious honors, including the Top Technocrat Award and Top 50 Under 50 - Indian Solar Industry (2025). He is known for his ability to bridge technology, operations, and business strategy, making him a valuable leader for organizations aiming to scale advanced manufacturing and drive innovation-led growth.
