I like to challenge the way things are done and to use data to bring real added value to a business. I believe in long term supplier development strategies and I am passionate about trying to change/improve traditional procurement mindsets in the construction industry. I tutor procurement in my spare time, so yes, in short, I am a bit of a nerd for it all.

I like to think I am not a "typical" buyer/procurement person and try to maintain that outlook to give me perspectives that can (and have proven to) offer advantage.

I am Autistic and without it I would not have the creativity combined with analytical skills that I do and I am extremely proud of the work I have done in my current role as Procurement Manager at Lovell. I am most proud though of developing my team and seeing them excel in procurement roles.

A little over a year ago the Pitcher family from East Runton, near Cromer had their world changed forever. Whilst on holiday their little boy Benny, became unwell and then diagnosed with DIPG a rare, terminal brain cancer that effects children. Its about now that a lot of people stop reading and move onto something else. Because thats easier isnt it? I don't judge you. But what makes you just move on now? How did the key suppliers in the organisation react to issues, were they prepared, did the supplier give your organisation prior warning or improved terms? Did they just drop you without warning. Is there a lack of transparency around the supplier selection? Now is the time to be looking deeper.

Procurement is much more than buying. Having stand-alone KPIs on "savings" is short sighted and the bigger picture is lost, of the “value” procurement has brought to the project/organisation (or could bring). It focuses the drive of the people in procurement to look inwardly at their own “performance” than that of the organisation or their project as a “whole”.
