In the course of Jake’s work, he has collaborated and met with some of the highest-profile figures in the field of sustainability, including Al Gore, a true inspiration in his efforts to call attention to the climate crisis. As a leader in the field, Jake has spoken during such conferences as COP21 and COP23, and writes frequently about topics such as climate change, environmental impact, clean technology, and artificial intelligence, all topics that he views as central to the battle of today’s generation, the battle for a collective home.
Looking at his writings, one may come to think he has spent his whole life doing what he’s doing now, but the reality is that Jake has not taken a strictly straight path to get to where he is today. After earning a BS in Industrial Design at Art Center College of Design, he started working, taking a product design role at Philips Electronics. He remained at Philips until 2000, when he started to work as a product design consultant and then as the Asia Pacific Business Development Manager at a small software company, Alias Systems, from 2000 to 2006. From there, Jake moved into Autodesk, eventually rising to the position of Director of Global Market Development Sustainability. He pursued an Executive MBA at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management along the way, graduating in 2011. All the while, Jake was educating himself on innovation, design, artificial intelligence and sustainability, his passion for climate science and sustainability initiatives growing every year.
Jake is a highly experienced business leader with an intrapreneurial mindset, having acquired a diverse background in the tech sector. He is motivated and passionate in articulating technology, innovation, industry challenges on sustainability and design on all aspects of strategic market development. Jake’s broad international experience ranges from product design and product development, to marketing, consulting, business strategy, market and business development. He has worked with start-up as well as Fortune 500 companies. Jake has a passion for startups, sustainability, innovation, design and problem-solving that has given him the opportunity to become a speaker and spokesperson at various conferences (such as during COP21 and COP23) and a frequent article contributor, sharing and discussing themes on big data, sustainability, climate change, environmental & social impact, clean technology, and innovation.
Since 1997 in Asia, Jake has lived & worked in Japan, Hong Kong and is now based in Singapore. With over 15 years’ experience in leading global cross-cultural teams he has built up a global support program for start-ups and entrepreneurs in clean technologies in Asia Pacific, North & South America, and Europe. He has a strong strategy leadership and unique management style and the ability to provide business direction & vision.
