THE “MARKETIZATION” OF LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT
linkedin
December 28, 2017
Marketization is a term usually reserved for companies gaining initial exposure to “market forces.” In this case, I feel the word applies well to what is happening within the Learning & Development (AKA, Learning & Capabilities) space of HR and Talent Management. In this case, the market forces are the manager and teams that live day to day in your business; they are the consumer.

"Rosie" has a new job and it’s in TECH!
linkedin
November 20, 2017
In this month’s article, I want to focus on a very prevalent topic in today’s TECH companies and the Technology pillars of business. Diversity. One of the leading topics in that conversation right now is around women in technology, or rather, the lack of it. I have particular empathy around this issue because it hits home. Maybe that is from my childhood where tolerance was expected, or coming from a large family with six sisters and two brothers, or perhaps it was due to the diversity of age, race, and gender, within our family at large.

AI’s future impact in Talent Management Programs
linkedin
October 24, 2017
Artificial Intelligence has been a topic of conversation for decades. You do not have to go too far back to see cinema that hinted at it in the 1940’s to films that pushed us out of our comfort zone for AI, like “Star Wars” and “Blade Runner”. As we think about AI from a sci-fi point of view, it is fun, innovative and entertaining. The same should be said for bringing AI to the masses in a more meaningful way, like around engagement and interaction with talent and within teams.

THE EVOLUTION OF EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT: A shift to Employee Experiences
linkedin
September 17, 2017
Game Night? Water Cooler Derby? Ropes Course? Volunteer event at the #ASPCA? Whatever the activity, it is evident that the modern workplace is embracing the Engagement Culture. For our parents up until the last decade, it used to be that employee engagement would have been a list of on-site tasks or activities, usually in a conference room with a paid speaker or a video. Then once the activity was done, everyone would shuffle back to his or her desk, office, or more likely a horrible cubical and put their heads back down; the event then left to be a distant memory by next week.

GEN X & THE OREGON TRAIL GENERATION: How will they save the future workplace?
linkedin
August 20, 2017
The Oregon Trail Generation, ever hear of it? That’s OK, neither had I until I read more about it and quickly realized that I was part of it. Insert image of me having a hard swallow. It is also known as the “Forgotten Generation.” The sort of “skipped-over” group, small that it is, who found themselves with a beeper and a cell phone at University. Recently there was an article calling us “Xennials.” Whatever the coined phrase is at the moment, this micro-generation speaks to the small lot of us that were born at the cusp years; the tail end of GEN X and right before Millennials. It has been said that the years are typically referred to the late 1970’s (1977) and early 1980’s, up to 1983. We are the youngest brothers and sisters to the GEN X group, and some days we recognize as such, and others as a Millennial.
