Philippa (Pip) Penfold

Philippa (known as Pip) is a People and Culture professional with 20 years’ experience. Pip currently works for Singapore-based Peoplewave, an HR Technology offering Performance Management and Onboarding solutions. In her current role as VP People & Strategy Pip is responsible for HR, Customer Success and Partnerships. She is challenging the HR status quo by leveraging technology to build an HR department absent of traditional roles!
Australian by birth, Pip has spent the last 10 years in Asia and has gained first-hand experience of the region living and working in Taipei, Manila and Mumbai before moving to Singapore. Pip has worked in Senior Pan-Asia HR roles across various industries, from start-up’s to MNC’s, experience which has shaped her views on Human Resources across ASEAN and Asia. She has broad experience formulating HR strategies that align workforce evolution to business growth and profitability, designing and implementing HR programs and supporting the implementation of new HR practices. Over the last 5 years Pip has been researching and speaking about the Future of Work and role the HR needs to play in finding synergy between Humans and Technology within organisations.
Pip has managed many technology implementations and supported HR functions with the pivot to digital. She supports HR functions to map their talent challenges and design their target technology ecosystem to meet those challenges. In addition to her role at Peoplewave, she provides specialist support and expertise to emerging technology companies on HR for Start-ups. Curious about technology and the talent management needs of the future workplace, Pip is constantly researching new technologies and exploring their human impact.
Pip has been a regular keynote speaker at HR, Technology & Digital conferences across APAC since 2012. She holds an Executive MBA from the global #1 ranked Kellogg-HKUST program and a Master of Science in Human Resource Management. Pip also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Strategy and Innovation from Oxford University’s Säid Business School and a Postgraduate Certificate in Change Management from the Australian Graduate School of Management. She is a certified Global Human Resources Professional (GPHR) through the Human Capital Institute, a Prosci Change Management Practitioner and is a certified a Level 2 Innovation Master through the Global Innovation Management Institute. Pip also holds professional credentials with the Australian HR Institute (CAHRI), UK CIPD (MCIPD), the Society for HR Management in the US (SHRM-SCP).
